BILL Clinton has accused Tony Blair of "betraying" him over the way he backed the Iraq War.
The former President has privately told Democratic Party friends Mr Blair should have challenged George Bush more.
A senior Labour source who visited Democrats in the US revealed: "Clinton feels betrayed by what Blair did.
"He feels the PM gave Bush respectable cover for the war and under- estimated his influence, which could have been put to better uses.
"But he has made it clear he's not going to hold a grudge."
Senior Democrats are dismayed at the closeness between the PM and Republican Mr Bush - and his failure to publicly back Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry.
They have assured Labour figures they will "not hold a grudge" if they win November's elections.
But ex-Foreign Secretary Robin Cook hinted Labour's relationship with the Democrats could be wrecked.
He said: "They're confident they're going to win.
"This is good news for the world but not unalloyed joy for Tony Blair."
Two months ago ex- Democrat presidential hopeful Howard Dean said: "We don't know what to make of Tony Blair.
"He was a strong friend of Clinton, now he's an ally with President Bush."
ROFLOL!! Good grief.
Hey clinton.
Put some ice on it.
SAY WHAT?
As much as most British politicians love Democrats, they should make Clinton their next prime minister. ...or secretary general. He/she could communicate with them on their own level.
Blair: You ignorant twit, it's not about you. Shove it!
Sociopath, chronic liar, narcissist Clinton has the gall to criticize anyone? Setting the stage for Kerry's loss. Clinton and Hill are rubbing hands with anticipation.
I hope it bloody hurts him, the tosser.
Regards, Ivan
This is the crux of the Dem problem. They think it is about them and not about America. Unless they are running the country, to hell with it. Then again, when they ARE running the country, to hell with. Screw the traiterous bastards.
This is extremely hot news if true. This sounds like Clinton was meddling in foreign affairs, trying to undermine the foreign policy of the elected President. Was he also talking to Chirac? How about Saddam? Was Clinton running around behind the scenes trying to undermine Bush's presidency? What exactly was going on here? |
I'm glad Clinton feels betrayed. It's a reminder of how good a friend Tont Blair really is.
BILL Clinton has accused Tony Blair of "betraying" him over the way he backed the Iraq War
STFU
Hey Bill your out, you didnt do anything but be distracted in your eight years -now clam up your mouth
The lowlife, rapist, cokehead, scumbag, liar, dissembling, disgraced, impeached ex-president Bubba Jeffy Klintoon still thinks it's all about him, doesn't he?
If I'd say what I really think, I'd get into trouble here. So I won't...
Why should Blair deal with Bush differently because of Clinton? In case X43 hasn't realized it, he's no longer president, and his opinion means nothing to Blair, frankly.
Bullocks!
LOL - love it!!!
In other words, Clinton believes policy in Iraq should be dominated by domestic political considerations. But we already knew that.
No, he was a strong friend of AMERICA.
Still is.
Though, I'd be willing to bet if Blair considers either leader a friend, it is G.W.
My estimation of Blair couldn't be higher. I'm not sure his country deserves him based on the reactions of Gov Officials (Tory or Labour) and population, but they have been blessed to have a leader similiar to G.W. in that he will sacrifice his career if it will ensure their safety.
Jimmy Carter did it throughout the run up to the Iraq War, and is still doing it. Before this administration, Kerry did it at least twice. First, when he met with the North Viet Namese at the Paris talks (during the Nixon administration); and, second, when he mwt with Daniel Ortega (during the Reagan administration). There are examples up many other Democrats doing the same. Their support for the Marxist government of Ortega in Nicaragua is the most notable in this regard. Remember Texas congressman (as Speaker of the House) Jim Wright.
It is too early to place Mr. Blair in the company of the great man, Churchill, but he certainly has been a stalwart friend.
STFU!
"But he has made it clear he's not going to hold a grudge."
Well ain't that big of him! I am sure Tony has quit shaking in his boots.
He wants to make sure he has Blair's support when Kerry appoints him to the Court of St. James.
"But he has made it clear he's not going to hold a grudge." Translation " no arkanside for Tony"
So Clinton is issuing pro-terrorist propaganda to try have support withdrawn from our defense, which could cause more US and British soldiers to be killed.
Clinton is an enemy against the free world. He wants the enemy to come to our own soil to murder our children. Democrats are terrorist-sympathizing filth.
Words fail me.
I sure hope that Tony Blair does not have any abandoned tents out in the middle of nowhere.
Exactly, WTF? Why should Blair be involved in our election one way or another?
Regards, Ivan
Just damn! Why would Clinton think Blair allying with the United States was a betrayal of him? This is the Bill Clinton they tried to sell as a person with a brilliant mind?
Is Clinton basicly saying by this reaction, that his interests are contrary to that of the United States? Oh come on, who would believe that.
The left is a rather interesting group. They loathe the U.S., but deny it and try to pass themselves off as the moral protectors of this nation's people. The funny thing is, they can't help themselves. The treason just oozes from these jacka--e-.
Kerry, when asked about his strategy for redeploying US troops abroad, seemed to be saying that he would pull US troops out of Iraq and convince the French and the Germans to replace them with theirs. Yeah, that would happen. I can't imagine why Blair would be nervous about Kerry.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what sKerry is bitchin' about? The ability to get along with all leaders? GWB did a great job with our friend, and Tony did a great job putting aside politics in order to get the job done.
Did it ever dawn in this bloated X42 that maybe Tony was just being NICE? After you pulled the stunt of telling the world about his health condition when you had left office and he had asked you to keep your crooked mouth shut?
</X42rantgrrrr >

Interesting that "the world" finds the "good news" is liberals winning. This should wake up sleeping Americans, the world is against US and they need the liberals to win.
On needs to look any further than this Clinton statement to know that PM Blair and President Bush did the right thing.
Dang typos; (correction to last )

Bill WHO???
I thought the donkeys were all worked up because Bush had alienated all our allies.
Now we're told they're upset that a great ally supports the U.S.?!
Talking out of both ends of the donkey.
It's nothing new for a former RAT President to try and meddle with our elections through foreigners. It was revealed about a year ago that Carter had actually contacted the Soviets in hope of getting the KGB to try and help turn the '84 election to Mondale. The Russians were smart enough to realize that not even they could save Mondale's campaign.
"But he has made it clear he's not going to hold a grudge."
Yes, there IS always Arkancide!
You can go to your room!
Clinton had no problem with Blair's support during the Kosovo campaign. What a hypocrite - and Clinton is setting an absolutely abhorrent precedent here in meddling with WARTIME foreign policy.
clinton should've called Blair a baby killer. Then this would all make sense. /sarcasm
Clinton is X42.

| Posted by ejdrapes On News/Activism ^ 07/14/2004 5:25:31 AM CDT London Times | July 14, 2004 | PETER BALE Clinton backs Blair on Iraq Bill Clinton has defended Tony Blair's decision to go to war in Iraq, saying today that the Prime Minister had faced a "terrible dilemma" and been forced to rely on overly aggressive British Intelligence assessments of the threat from Saddam Hussein. Speaking on the day that Mr Blair faces the Butler report on failures in intelligence gathering which led to the decision to invade, Mr Clinton said that the British public had to understand how hard Mr Blair worked to avoid war and give UN inspectors the time to assess whether claims Iraq had weapons... |
