Kerry faces tough veteran crowd

[snip]

Kerry's speech in Cincinnati drew about 6,000 people, fewer than half the 15,000 attending the VFW's national convention. The audience offered polite applause.

But many veterans did not clap at some standard stump-speech lines that usually draw applause, suggesting that numerous former warriors were skeptical if not hostile. At least two men heckled Kerry.

One word explained the tough crowd: Vietnam.

Kerry's public protests against the Vietnam War as a young veteran newly home from Southeast Asia were a sore point for many veterans.

Kerry campaign officials said they were pleasantly surprised by what they saw as a relatively warm response from an audience Democratic candidates sometimes have avoided.

Also Wednesday, the Kerry campaign disputed an allegation made by a group of veterans opposed to the senator's presidential candidacy that he never operated inside Cambodia during the Vietnam War.

The Boston Globe reported that in a new book, "Unfit for Command," the veterans said "Kerry was never in Cambodia during Christmas 1968, or at all during the Vietnam War," and he "would have been court-martialed had he gone there."

Has anybody been able to find out what was being said by the hecklers?

I wouldn't call it warm, I'd call it lukewarm. The applause was polite but subdued. He was treated respectfully, if not quite like the hero he purports to be.

One thing that struck me - Aside from the two hecklers, he was treated with a lot more class than GWB would have received from, say, a gray pony-tailed cadre of Ivy League professors...

Notice, no mention of Vets who turned their backs on him during his speach.

The following is a statement by a CMH winner from the Vietnam War concerning his treatment by his captors while a prisoner in N. Vietnam because of John Kerry's VVAW group and John Kerry.

LINK 1Statement

LINK 2 Col.'s BIO must read

Statement from Col George E. "Bud" Day, USAF, Ret., Medal of Honor Recipient, Former POW in Hanoi, North Vietnam, regarding Presidential election support:

"I am solidly in the camp for the reelection of President George W. Bush.

While opposition to my legal efforts to restore WWII/Korea era earned medical care by the Bush Administration was discouraging, the Kerry Vietnam anti-war movement directly encouraged the vicious torture I received as a POW in the Hanoi Hilton, was demoralizing for other POW's and their families, and provided aid and comfort for North Vietnam to continue the war.

I can think of no action more despicable than false public condemnation of warriors on the field of battle, as John Kerry made under oath. Senator Kerry is unfit to become President and our Commander-in-Chief." Col, George "Bud" Day, USAF, Ret., Medal of Honor recipient, Former POW in Hanoi, North Vietnam.

Hey one time a co-worker of mine went to my boss and claimed that I was stealing from the company. I almost lost my job, but I didn`t. They found out instead he was lying because he was in fact the one who was stealing and was trying to draw attention away from himself. They of course fired him instead. Now I wonder, if he ever ran for political office, would he ever think for a second that I would ever support him? Well that`s the situation with the Vets and John Kerry. The only difference is Kerry is arrogant enough to assume that the Vets will forget what he did to them.

I heard some of the clips of the speech on Rush and was shocked. I was shocked that Kerry would assume these people were like all the other brain dead morons who believe him.

He spoke of how America will never confuse the war with the warrior, how soldiers will never be disrespected again, "Not on my watch!". He almost sounded as if he was trying to explain away his actions after the war. It was insulting to these guys who know who Kerry is.

Funny how "the war hero" Kerry speaking at the VFW gets treated like Bush at a NAACP convention.

Sorry to refute one more lie from the media hacks.

I remember being infuriated at the frigid response given to the first President Bush and the overwhelming cheering that went on and on for Bill Clinton the candidate.

I wish this veteran could have been one more in attendance, facing the back wall.

Thurlow's records, portions of which were released Wednesday under the Freedom of Information Act

Question. How can this man's military records be released under the Freedom of Information Act? Can Kerry's be accessed under the same act?

Forget any analysis folks. The fact that only 6,000 people were there to hear John Kerry and 15,000 attended to hear President GW Bush clearly tells the American people what the veterans think John Kerry stands for. They know he is a liar and traitor!
