Typo in the book itself,
Or maybe not. Thurlow is said to have been OIC of the 51 boat.
Does anyone know where this is definitively mentioned - which boats were present, who was OIC, who was Officer in Tactical Command (Thurlow?), where they were on the canal, and what was the order of the boats as they approached. There seem to be a million and one variations. Anyone know for sure?
I agree that there are some details that need to reconciled, but I don't view them as being critical to the main thrust of their story that Kerry took off while the rest stayed behind to take care of PCF 3, that there was no enemy fire, that they stayed in that location for 90 minutes, and that the PH was awarded improperly.
I have some sypathy and understanding for O'Neill who put this together under great time pressure. It would take a long time to assemble all of the source materials. The USG bureaucracy takes a long time to provide access to official records such as log books, sitreps, etc. The election would be long over. The Dems will try to discredit everything in the book by identifying some meaningless discrepancy. The SBVFT will respond, I am sure, to these latest round of attacks. It is interesting that the MSM is now covering this in force. Hopefully, they will give the SBVFT to respond to these attacks.
