CNN: Kerry Will File Legal Challenge to Swift Boat Veterans-Demands Immediate Suspension of Ads
NewsMax.com ^ | 8/20/04 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 08/20/2004 2:40:45 PM PDT by kattracks

CNN is reporting Friday afternoon that the Kerry campaign will file a complaint with the FEC.

Wolf Blitzer reported that the campaign will allege that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are illegally coordinating their efforts with the Bush-Cheney campaign.

The complaint reportedly demands that the Swiftvets immediately suspend broadcasts of commericals attacking John Kerry's Vietnam War record and return any moneys raised in conjunction with the ad campaign.

The complaint is an extension of Sen. Kerry's charge on Thursday that the Swiftvets are a "front group" for the Bush Cheney campaign, alleging that the group has broken campaign laws by coordinating their efforts with the White House.

John O'Neill, author of the book "Unfit for Command," which details the charges described in the anti-Kerry commercials, said Friday that he had no connection with the White House, adding that his group wouldn't suspend the ads even if the White House asked them too.

"This isn't his fight," O'Neill told radio host Sean Hannity. "This is between the veterans who served in Vietnam and John Kerry."

From http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Printable.asp?ID=13584

...a search on the Democratic National Committee Website for the words "MoveOn.org" produces a few paragraphs that raise instant questions for Soros.

One item says, "The DNC is also conducting a major petition drive in partnership with MoveOn.org. More than 310,000 Americans have signed the petition to protect our courts - with more than 172,000 of those signatures coming in the past 36 hours. The petition calls on Bush and the Republicans to stop nominating judges that are out of step with mainstream Americans and praising the Democrats for standing up for their rights." The DNC website links the petition.

The other announcement involved what the DNC called "a massive public mobilization" in which "The Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org..." to fight President Bush’s tax cuts.

Uh, John . . . follow your opponent's example. This entire summer was dominated by stories about Michael Moore packing theaters all over the country to view F9/11.all of which were blatant lies about your opponent. Did your opponent demand the theaters go dark? Did your opponent demand that those ads calling him Hitler by moveon.org be pulled? No. And No.
Question, Mr. Kerry: If there is no truth to the Swifties' ads, then why not let them play out, just like your opponent has done with the attacks on his character and credibility for over a year? If there is no truth to what these guys are saying about you, then why be bothered?
Tell us, John. What is it about these ads that gets under your skin deeper than that dangerous millimeter of schrapnel did, 35 years ago?

I sent the link to the new Swiftie ad out this morning to over 250 people on my distribution list. I know for a fact that just three of them resent it to over 250 others.

If we all send the link it will be out to millions within a few days.

Yeah, but the important thing is whether more people--independents and borderline Dems--are getting it.

The initial Swift Boat ad was a limited buy in a few swing state markets. All the media attention has magnified that spot money more than any other limited run political commercial that I can recall. The problem that the MSM faces is that they have two primary modes of operation - ignore or attack. But the alternative media no longer allows them to ignore the issues, and if they attack it, it gives it far more attention.

Of course, it also helps to have a campaign staff with an unerring ability to shoot themselves in the foot.

7 minutes ago DRUDGE REPORT

FORT MYERS, United States (AFP) - Democratic White House hopeful John Kerry (news - web sites)'s campaign formally alleged that a group attacking his Vietnam war record had
illegal ties to US President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s reelection bid.

In a statement released to reporters, Kerry's campaign announced it had "filed a legal complaint against Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVT) before the Federal
Election Commission (news - web sites) (FEC) for violating the law with inaccurate ads that are illegally coordinated with the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign."

The move by the Kerry campaign came shortly after the Swift Boat group released a second ad attacking the Democratic presidential candidate, who was
wounded three times while serving on a Swift Boat in Vietnam and decorated twice for valor.

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have accused Kerry of lying about one of the wounds he suffered and of embellishing his acts of heroism during his four months in
Vietnam, charges strongly rejected by the senator from Massachusetts.

Kerry on Thursday accused the Bush administration of using the Swift Boat veterans as a front group to do the "dirty work" of attacking his Vietnam War record.

The New York Times on Friday reported that there is a "web of connections" between the Swift Boat group and the "Bush family, high-profile Texas political
figures and President Bush (news - web sites)'s chief political aide, Karl Rove."

I read yesterday the Kerry campaign heard about the Thurlow thing yesterday and quickly changed Kerry's speech because they thought they had the magic bullet. Little did they know there was another, bigger gun right around the corner waiting to ambush.

Sucks to be you FKerry.

I think the Swifties were hoping for this.

They have not been working with the RNC.

However, moveon.org has worked with the DNC...so has the ADA.
Kerry did this to try and make the Swifties look bad...the problem is...the Swifties' lawyers will be able to demand that Kerry show proof that they work with the RNC...which Kerry won't be able to. He'll make stuff up...and it will come back on him.

The Swifties can also demand that the FEC look back into the moveon.org and ADA connections to the DNC. INCLUDING THAT THEY ARE FUNDED BY TEREEEEEZUH.

That would mean the FEC would have to look into the money miz Heinz spent on Kerry.....INCLUDING THE HOUSE that was put up so Kerry could borrow money for his campaign. He claimed that she has not given money....which she has.

And if Kerry keeps trying to say they are lying...and pushes for the FEC to look into that....the Swifties will have the right to have their lawyers demand to have Kerry release is full military and medical records.

Kerry is dropping in polls with vets. and now he is in a state of panic.

OK chilren, here are your spelling words for today. Write down each one five times and then use it in a sentence:

Implosion
Scary
Carry
Bitter
Liar
Unfit
Illegal
Partner
Looser
War
Criminal
Sedition
Treason

As always, chilren, extra credit if you can use ALL the words in one sentence. If you choose to do this you can change the words slightly, such as changing illegal to illegally, but the changed word must be spelled correctly to get credit.

Good luck!

Kerry better batten down the hatches. Former POW's are considering joining up with the SwiftVets. Something about the tape recordings of Kerry's 1971 senate statements that were sent to Hanoi by the VVAW group that were used agianst them. I believe the FBI files on the VVAW have this documented. Over at DU they are having a heyday with this. They think it is great. The line of reasoning is that because Kerry and Edwards are both "brilliant" lawyers that they wouldn't be pursuing this unless they had overwhelming PROOF that Bush is "coordinating" with the swift vets. Stupidly, though, they think that if they can establish a "link" with Rove, that Bush will be destroyed. They are only INVITING an investigation into leftist 527's like Moveon, which DOES have links to Kerry.
