TOM HAYDEN: OLD TRAITORS NEVER DIE Dissent must come alive in New York
Newsday, Inc. ^ | August 20,2004 | TOM HAYDEN

Posted on 08/20/2004 11:21:53 PM PDT by Cincinna

Protest, even more than property, is a sacred resource of American society. It begins with radical minorities at the margins, eventually marching into the mainstream, where their views become the majority sentiment. Prophetic minorities instigated the American Revolution, ended slavery, achieved the vote for women, made trade unions possible, and saved our rivers from becoming sewers. Protest by its nature challenges authority. It cannot be managed or commodified without losing its essence. Copyright © 2004, Newsday, Inc.

The Old Media will become unhinged and trash the pubs during the convention.

The rats knew better than to give us a Wellstone funeral convention, but the Old Media is going to do it for them.

It does seem like things are coming full circle for some of this old leftist guard. May their last hurrah be the place where we finally leave them behind us.

Amen.
In his great autobiography, RADICAL SON, David Horowitz writes about Tom Hayden as the biggest instigator and opportunist of the lot.

Hayden has a lot in common with Kerry.

Married big money to make his political career.

Dissent against the hysteria that leads New York's Proudest to throw a hammerlock on Mike Wallace and have the impunity to claim that this 86-year-old man "lunged" at them.

Appropriate treatment for limosine liberals. I will certainly be watching the show...

Which is exactly what's happening with the Swift Vets. The irony is probably lost on Harkin.

David Horowitz,of RAMPARTS fame,became a CONSERVATVE. <~p> Jerry Rubin became a stockbroker.

Abbie Hoffman is long dead.

Others are in jail, dead,or living in quiet anonymity.Since they're all in their late 50s to 70s,that's how it is.

He managed to slip in an idea about commodifying the protest. Maybe one should start a market in options and futures on protest(ers)? Say, along the lines of Iowa election futures?

What a bunch of double-speak. He's against taking the war to the terrorists overseas, but he's for taking the war to the terrorists overseas. He's opposed to protecting the homeland, but... Wait, he didn't contradict that view.

Take a good look kids. This is a brain on drugs.

Unless of course the protesters don't agree with prevailing lefty agenda. Then the protesters must be rigorously suppressed. It is important to never let free speech interfer with politics and the pursuit of power.

In the Fall of 69 the Chicago 7 trial was across the street where I worked in downtown Chicago.

I got out of the Navy in Sept 69 and this was my 1st job.

When I was discharged and returned to Chicago I was taunted and tormented by anti-war protesors and denied entrance to Nortwestern University where I wanted to study journalism.
Denied because they said being a Viet Nam Vet on campus in 1969 would be a problem.

Read a piece by Norman Mailer.

He's convinced we're (the GOP) are setting a trap for the Democrats.

That why NYC was chosen because we knew there'd be protests and protests will play right into the hands of the Republicans, persuading middle America to vote for Bush.

It's a real "tin foil hat" piece, but interesting because he's trying to persuade them to go the non-violent route in their protests...like that's going to happen, LOL.

If you're interested in a look into the mind of a paranoid liberal, who at least recognizes what the result of violelnce will be, here's the link:

Add Hanoi Jane and Tom Hayden to the present Kerry mess and Bush will have a 20 point bounce at the convention. Bring it on Tom and Jane.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes,I remember it well.

When we moved to Chicago,in '73,I had a friend who lived in the same building that Judge Hoffman lived in.That trial almost destroyed him.
