You can change that. Look in the upper right-hand corner, there should be the words 'full' and 'breif'. Click on 'full'.
Isn't this one of the guys that Kerry is shipping all over the country? The story tries to give the image that he just came forward.
Okay, let's put it this way: First Purple Heart approved on February 28th, 1969. Second Purple Heart approved March 5th. Third Purple Heart approved April 17th. That's a total of 3 Purple Hearts approved within a 49 day period. Not to mention the fact that he actually left Vietnam 3 weeks before the 3rd Purple Heart was even approved.
This is really very funny. He has no doubt Kerry was grazed in a firefight. How many other people have ever gotten a purple heart for being "grazed"? How many would even ask for one?
Last night on Scarborough, he had Gardner on the show. Gardner admitted that he was the one that shot the Man and Son after the boat came up on them. He stated it was Kerry's fault because Kerry was supposed to be manning the radar and should have detected the boat of the dead man 500 yards away and they could have set out warning flairs before they got up on them. I believe it was Si Pan incident? He also stated that he has the Official After Action Report, absent Kerry's signature, but with full details of SB-44 which could have only been written by Kerry, being he was the commander of that boat and the only one that writes after action reports for that boat. The report indicated 4 VC were killed. Not true. I can't find the transcript on MSNBC. I believe they are trying to hide the info.
Hurley was speechless when Gardner presented this info.
Somehow, Kerry's weapon stopped firing. Runyon thinks he ran out of ammunition. He said Kerry bent down to pick up another gun and got hit in the arm.
"It wasn't a serious wound," Runyon said, and Kerry was able to start shooting again. When the firefight was over, Runyon said Kerry told him all he felt was a "burning sensation."
Runyon said he remembers the incident clearly because it was the first time he had been in combat. "I hadn't seen any kind of action or anything," he said.
Agreed and not a day of hospitalization. Kerry must have been the luckiest man in Vietnam or the biggest fraud. I tend to think the latter is the case.
The press is going to TRY to shred the Swifties just as they are going TRY to shred any effective supporter of Dubya. More signifcantly they are going to IGNORE the issues. They are going to IGNORE any claims of success in Iraq or improvement to the economy.
O'Neill is a great ally. Thank God for him.
So minor, in fact, that he was able to spend "Christmas in Cambodia" later that month. :o)
According to Kerry's own description in Douglas Brinkley's Tour of Duty, the Dec. 2, 1968, mission behind what he has claimed to be his first Purple Heart was "a half-assed action that hardly qualified as combat."
Nice use of the passive voice there. I've seen a few different versions of this story, and most skirt the 'enemy fire' angle, like this one. Just from what is stated above, it is still completely possible that the swifty story is true. Kerry fired his rifle until it jammed, then fired the M79 grenade launcher and accidentally wounded himself by using it 'danger close'.
The passive voice 'things happened' style is often used to create impressions of things or to conceal the actors involved.
Just because there is a lot of shooting and moving doesn't mean that you are actually in contact with anybody. Large firefights with nobody happens all the time. One sentry makes a mistake, and next thing you know the whole unit is firing like wild. The article here seems to be either ignorant of that common battlefield occurance, or willing to let it slide to further their version.
he decided to leave because he could be more effective in stopping the war being in the US.
It was approved on February 28, 1969
You are correct about Kerry's political conversion, but he gave a different rationale to Brinkley. It shows what a slimeball and opportunist he really is.
Any day we can expect one of John Kerry childhood friends to emerge and talk about the time Kerry "heroically took a icy snowball to the head during a hostile neighborhood snowball fight."
They're certainly going to TRY to do so, but times have changed. Their once omnipotent powers to hynotize and brainwash the masses has waned tremendously due to "the new media".
You could've used a lot less verbage in your post if you had simply typed "Nothing to see here. Move on." I don't believe the Swift Boat Veterans for TRUTH plan to just move on and back down. F'n's Vietnam issue is highly relevant because it says everything about his lack of character, leadership and morals. He has truly proven to be UNFIT FOR COMMAND.
One more thing: "He said, he said" was the case in other meaningful instances of Politicians vs. The People. For example: Deep Throat vs. President Richard Nixon. Thongica Blewinski vs. BJ "Is" Clinton. Pantstuffer Berger vs. National Archives Monitors. McImagayamerican vs. Israeli Loverboy. These things are only "he said, he/she said" until the verifiable truth emerges. If the truth in F'n's case is to his benefit, all he has to do to stop the "he said, he said" is provide the documents that will prove it. He refuses to do that. (He probably wants another Purple Heart for being verbally wounded.)
Yep.
