1st time voter looking for help!

I understand partisanship but I am new to politics as this is the first time I will vote. Pres. Reagan was like a father figure to me because he is the first President I really remembered. Pres. Bush 41 seemed pretty cool but not as cool as Reagan in my opinion. I served as a US Marine under Pres. Clinton and had no problems with him either. He did mess around but that is none of my business because I'm not going to be sitting on the throne next to Jesus when Bill Clinton is judged nor is anyone else on this Earth. John 8:5-7 illustrates about passing judgment on others and I am not without my own sins so I can’t "cast the first stone" and those that have cast their stones are dealers of hypocrisy.

Again, I'm not a partisan, I am a literal Christian (meaning I read the Word and interpret it for myself) and I am a literal Constitutionalist (meaning I believe that "all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights..."). This means I have respect for others regardless if I disagree or agree because I was taught right from wrong as a child. As cadet commander in my Civil Air Patrol unit as a high school kid I learned many things about leadership as we were required to take tests prior to qualifying for promotions. On this note I have to say that I'm not very satisfied with our current leadership. The Cadet Leadership manual stated something that I will never forget, "A good leader will never ask of his subordinates that which he does not absolutely demand from himself". As a small business owner in my late 20s I live by this motto in order to lead by example and I'm sad to say that Pres. Bush hasn't shown me much leading by example and that is why I'm here... to learn other people's opinions and facts so I can make the best decision on November 2nd.

I am sick of the attack ads regarding Viet Nam, truth or untruth. One guy went the other one didn't and to judge them is not right. Did any of us not make any mistakes when we were in our 20s? No, then drop it! I think it is honorable that Kerry volunteered for combat duty when it seems clear that he wasn't going to have to be shot at and at the same time if I were G.W. and Cheney I might have avoided combat too. I wasn't there so I don't know but I did skip school on my 18th birthday to enlist in the Marines against my family's wishes with the penalty of loosing my car I got early for graduation. I did it because I believe God led me to do it to make a man out of me and for me to get pushed very hard and not have the option of quitting to prepare me for real life. Raised by a single mother because Dad was a drunk (you want to save marriage then outlaw booze because there are too many "baby's daddies" and too few "fathers" in this world!), I didn't have a college fund, trust fund, or any advantages other than an unwavering faith in the Lord which led to an appreciation of everything I have gotten because I earned it. Maybe that is why I think the way I do because half of my family has accumulated wealth thru oil and communications and the other just plain works for a living. Can you tell which side am I closer in relations?

I think it should be mandatory for all Americans to serve 2 years to not only grow up but to be able to see things thru other people's eyes to get a better understanding of the world we live in to be as wise as possible. This way anyone can talk of someone else's service because believe me, if you haven't run PT before sunrise, haven't qualified with an M-16 rifle (or previous service rifles), if you haven't stood a post until properly relieved then you don't RATE; you haven't EARNED the right to say anything, period! If you had "other priorities" other than to answer the call of your Nation to keep the wolf away from our front door then you don't rate an opinion on someone else's sacrifices. This is hypocrisy at its worst. The solution is mandatory service; if you have connections then go work in administration or supply if you're so inclined if you want to be the real deal then become an 0311 infantryman and get a perception on life that all of the money in the world can't buy. It is amazing how politics and everything else goes right out the window after the SNAAAAAP of the first round whizzes past your head. And while you're getting shot at I doubt you'll consider that you're taking this risk for about $1,800 per month while those who sent you there, who didn't go when it was there time, are making billions thru no bid contracts and unexercised stock options while your family at home is facing eviction because you're getting $2,000 less per month than you did working at EDS or Frito- Lay. Tell me how as a real patriot and die- hard lover of this great Nation I can not have a problem with that? How can anyone sit back with their tax cut and smile while our troops that you claim to support are so broke they couldn't get out of sight if it took a quarter to go all of the way around the world? I understand about hording as much wealth as you can, I can't yet because I'm not in that position, but how can you SINCERELY support the troops under this premises? Seriously, if you didn't serve you don't RATE to discuss.

I do not trust the main stream US media because both sides are not equally represented and I don't appreciate my intelligence being insulted in having my "news" determined by Washington "think tanks" so I do my own research. Obviously 'yall know this is true and that is why I joined the most right- wing website so I can hear from real individuals for personal guidance. I also visit liberal websites too so that I can get info from both sides but the Free Republic came highly recommended! On some issues I'm very conservative and on others I suppose that I'm liberal. But my own identity will not allow me to fall rank and file behind any one party because I do my own thinking and neither party totally represents me in full.

I love God and getting shot and feeling His power comfort me is all the proof I will ever need of His existence not that there ever was a doubt. I'm also a proud owner of an assault rifle collection and I think that if I could qualify for a Class III machine gun then I should be able to buy an M-60E3, like I carried in the Marines, made yesterday for $6,000 like a police department and not $30,000- $45,000 that was made prior to the machine gun ban. At the same time I truly believe that only GOD has the authority to regulate sexual behavior and that gay folks are entitled to certain unalienable right because I have read that somewhere before. God didn't want robots because we give Him pleasure when we are a blessing to one another; look at the story of Lazarus. Along with my 2nd Amendment rights I also like my 1st Amendment rights and despise the USA PATRIOT Act with a passion!

So, under the "you're with us or you're with the terrorists" where do I fit in? I'm obviously not with the terrorists after I contacted authorities to be sure I could carry my M-4 carbine in my limo because limos are targets for terrorists as reported by DHS. Also, I'm not 100% behind many of Bush's policies like the PATRIOT Act, ending overtime pay, screening participants in Bush rallies, or spending the Treasury into oblivion. I'm sure many on this site benefited from the tax cuts but I was left behind while my commercial insurance and fuel expenses have been an essential tax increase but I can write of a Hummer which does me no good at all. Maybe I'm jealous that if I treated my business like Bush is treating our economic situation I'd be collecting food stamps like a majority of our military families which I also don't like.

I understand not wanting to pay taxes to go to welfare or education for schools where your kids don't attend but am I just wrong in believing that America is a team and that a team is only as strong as our weakest member? Is this a liberal trait, a conservative trait, or should it be an American trait?

Maybe I don't have a place because I believe in American ideals and not partisanship. I won't join the NRA because they're too partisan as the 2nd Amendment is an American thing and not owned by the GOP and neither is Christianity and to claim such a thing in my opinion is more of an abomination than gay marriage. Luke 20:25 says, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, render unto God that which is God's" is not only about taxes, and not only speaking of the properties of the carnal world and spiritual world but I also believe it is a hint toward the separation of church and state and America was founded on this aspect yet our recent behavior has forgotten this. Justice Antonin Scalia said, "Separation of church and state is a liberal fantasy". Ok, wrong, it was the reality that our founding fathers set forth and a Judeo- Christian fundamentalist society is just as wrong as an Islamic one which brings me to discuss Jerome Corsi.

Jerome Corsi- What a role model (sarcasm)! What is Christian about attacking someone's teenage daughter??!! Regardless if he hated Clinton, and we all know HATE is a Christian trait (sarcasm) but to attack a child!!! I don't hear liberals attack Jenna and Barbara and if they did I'd blast them too; it is all a matter of CLASS and moral high- ground! This "Christian" even attacked Catholics and Muslims which is also a trait Jesus sent us into the world to show non- Christians (sarcasm). So, I guess my question is that can you claim to be of a particular religious faith yet your actions and words do not reflect any of the examples set forth and recorded by the Lamb? It is just as appalling as what Fox did to one of the hosts of my favorite Crossfire show. I have boycotted all Fox networks because they posted Tucker Carlson's home phone number on their website after Tucker did or said something they didn't like. I applaud Carville and Begala for blasting Fox over this terrible incident but I find Novak appalling after the Valerie Plame incident and I hope he enjoys club fed very soon!

I don't mean to attack them man but is this the example you'd prefer to be set forth for non- believers to see? Does anyone other than me see that this sort of behavior is committing spiritual murder on those who don't know God and spiritual suicide on himself. Granted, our God is an awesome and forgiving God but as "the enlightened" is this the sort of thing we believers should support or condemn?

I'm sure some will attack things I've said and attack me and threaten my life as it has happened on other posts on other websites I've made but, "bring it on" if you think it will make you feel better about yourself. What I really want is an intelligent discussion so that I can present some abhorrent things I have read for your much appreciated analysis and mentoring. I don't feel either candidate has it down 100% but with your help I can determine the lesser of the 2 evils and take part in the democratic process for the first time.

Want to win my vote for Dubya?
Tell me why on 25 OCT 99 Payne Stewart's lear jet was intercepted by F-16s in 21 minutes yet in over 1.5 hours of hijackings on 9/11 nothing of this sort of response happened? Why was no one punished or resigned for this epic failure? Why are there press reports of German, Russian, Israeli, and Egyptian intelligence agencies with SPECIFIC warnings and yet it was sold to us as a "lack of imagination"? Why have the press reports of "put options" for UAL, AMR, Merrill- Lynch and Morgan Stanley among others resulting in profiteering from prior knowledge of the attacks been not reported since a few days after 9/11? What about the airspace being closed and anti- aircraft batteries installed in Genoa Italy in July 2001 during the G8 Summit because intel said Al Qaeda planned to hijack planes and kill Bush? Thank God we did it but that piece of info was forgotten when they said, "how could we have known"? Psst! That dog won't hunt! No association with any group can lead me to discount these facts and accept that 2,801 Americans died from “a lack of imagination” when it was a lack of execution of Standard Operating Procedures! Seriously, when G.W. was here in Dallas recently, and F-16 nearly shot down a red and white prop plane over my house because I guess the pilot didn’t file a flight plan but I’m sure he had to change his underwear when he landed in Frisco! So, is it that NORAD only responds to “unknowns” in air traffic control just over Texas skies or just when it fits into the scheme of the desired end result? Can anyone give me a logical, non- partisan answer to this question? I mean, 2,801 of our brethren died and I want more than a lame cop- out excuse why SOP was avoided and who gave the order to stand down? If I believed in the “magic bullet” and that Oswald was the lone gunman I might buy this excuse but both events resulted in murder and going to war so can anyone disprove these similarities? Boy, I sure hope so! Please???!!!

Please try to make your next irrational rant a little quicker. I don't have all that much time to dedicate to FR these days and I wouldn't want to waste some of it waiting for you to come up with another convuluted whine.

There IS a difference between Kerry and Bush in Viet Nam. One of these differences is that one of these guys actually left the Continental United States and one of these guys actually saw blood spilled and that is beyond any questioning or debate.

That's a real hoot from someone who is still obsessing about Buchanan. Perhaps you should be more concerned with your own "mess".

Obsessing? LOL! No, I'll leave the idol worship to you. You seem to be incapable of understanding that in order to obsess about a person they must have a level of value to you. buchanan has about as much value to me as a pocket of puss on a frenchman's arse...none.

Don't confuse my amusement of one of his 12 remaining faithful's continuing pathetic attacks on the President as anything more then it is...amusement. But I can understand how you still harbor bitter feelings...you really should try to get over them.

"If we lose the election, so be it."

===

Go ahead, sit it out. Make Bin Laden happy.

Then when the terrorists attack us, and murder your loved ones, you can be proud, that you helped create the circumstances. This may sound harsh, but it's true. Our very survival is at stake.

Alan Keyes comes out in support of President Bush, denounces Democrats, "our survival is at stake!"

COLMES: We continue with Alan Keyes. Ambassador Keyes, as a fiscal conservative, as a true conservative yourself, do you have some problems with the spending of this administration?

KEYES: Oh, I sure do--and I wouldn't want to give the impression that I don't have other problems with this administration on some areas where I think that the president has fallen short of the kinds of things that I really think are needed in some areas.

But I also wouldn't want to give the impression that I think that anything can be more decisive for the American people right now than the question of our national survival in the face of the most insidious threat this nation has ever faced.

In the face of that, I think a lot of us are going to be putting our other issues behind those issues that have to do with the survival of this nation in wartime.

The argument that "the other guy is worse" is invalid. There is now such an indiscernible difference between the Republican and Democrat parties that it would make little difference who won the election.

Louder, please. The veil and burqa muffle your voice, somewhat.

Wouldn't it have been a whole lot simpler just to type "Allah Akbar," ultimately...?

To an increasing number of Kool-Aid drinking, mind numbed, yeller-dawg Pubbies on this forum, the answer is yes. Don't think for yourself, don't question anyone with an "R" after their name, check your principles at the door, put on your rose-colored glasses, and pull the straight Pubbie ticket switch on election day. If you dare step out of line, speak the truth, disagree in any way with anything or idea forwarded by any Pubbie (or conversely, recognize the merit of any idea that may come from the other side of the aisle!), and you'll be flamed mercilessly, piled on, drawn and quartered, and labeled a DU Commie disruptor, even though you're the farthest thing from it.

Welcome to today's FR.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!Allah Akbar!

Edited for intellectual honesty and clarity.

Use your head. If you have two choices that are both bad the wisest choice is not to choose either.

Expertise? I wouldn't call it expertise, anyone with more then a couple of whole brain cells to rub together knew buchanan and his loyal minions are full of crap. Heck, even most of them finally wised up and slung away. Then you have those who are still pouting and posting their hatred of Bush.

"As a conservative, I have become increasingly disappointed at the leftward drift of the Republican Party under the leadership of George W. Bush. His monetary and immigration policies are prime examples.

I have come to the conclusion that he is, quite simply, unacceptable. "

===

I don't think this merits staying at the top of "Announcements" category, or even be in that category. Would you please consider removing it from there?

I suppose, if you really want to give equal time to Kerry-shills, you can leave it in the "Your opinions" category.
