Nobody has ever deserved a world-class ass whipping more than Kerry does.

You're right. It's unbelievable but he makes even Clinton look more honorable.

And Kerry earned those 3 purple hearts in about 3 months

Simple question how many stitches did they take? If none or a few then there more like boo boos...

Thanks for the story Carl.

I was curious about Bob Dole's take on this issue.

It's gratifying to see a Republican stand on his hind two legs-a rare occurance. That being said, the Old Media will ignore this. Dole's comments will be down the memory hole, or so they think. Once this gets out through the New Media, the Old Media will attempt to smear and destry Dole.

Same old, same old.

"Christmas in Cambodia" sounds like an album title. Maybe Ted and Alice could put a double album together using old cuts or something. That would be fairly cool.

John Kerry: A Navy Dove Runs for Congress

In America, "everybody who's against the war is suddenly considered anti-American," Kerry said. "But I don't think they can turn to me and say I don't know what's going on or I'm a draft dodger." Referring to the House Armed Services Committee, chaired by L. Mendel Rivers (D-S.C.), Kerry said, "I want to go down to Washington and confront Medel Rivers, who never fought in a war.

So Vietnam was just a photo-op for kerry?

Good point.

Dole is certainly not a partisan hack, and his war injuries earn him the right to make these types of comments. His words carry a lot of weight.

I did not vote for Bob Dole (I went for Harry Browne), but in a dark recess of my soul, the bad part of me wishes that I was John Kerry so that I could now lie and say that I did. I always thought of Bob Dole as the consummate squishy, wimpy professional politician. I will never think that way again. Heroism takes many forms, and Bob Dole's heroism has now taken at least two of them.

I heard Oliver North on the radio last week. He as well a Kerry has a silver and bronze star. Col. North stated that he could have qualified for more purple hearts than he was awarded but that he did not want to leave the marines he was leading and be forced into some staff job.To me that is the true definition of a hero. Col. North was a true leader and warrior while Sen. Kerry was looking towards padding his political resume. I for one am tired of these Dems who set their sights on higher office at such an early age like Kerry. Political power is what he and others like him are after and not public service like Bob Dole.

I've never heard Bob Dole once brag about his service in WWII.

True war heroes don't have to tell anyone, especially over and over, like Kerry does, that they're war heroes.

I disagree with Dole.

An apology doesn't cut it. NEVER WILL.

Too many POW's suffered additional problems because of Hanoi Jane and Hanoi John Kerry.

I wonder if J K Kennedy is rolling in his grave listening to Kerry after all the comments that are on the Congressional record.

Bob Dole is a genuine hero. He has again shown his strength of character by speaking up for the Viet Nam Vets. Republicans need to run ads with his last remark in particular because I do think the RAT strategy is to keep focus on the Swifties so not much is learned by the voting public about Kerry's 18 year senate record. Which,as Senator Dole so succinctly puts it, is pretty thin. Thank you Senator Dole.

As an honorable man, Bob Dole resigned his Senate position to run for President.

The dishonorable John Kerry, on the other hand, simply went AWOL from the Senate.

Maybe someone, (Joe Lieberman?) advised him not to quit his day job...

It seems like all the media can do is keep harping on John McCain saying that the president should disavow himself of the swift boat commercials.

Someone needs to ask John McCain if he is satisfied with Bush's response that called for an end to all 527 ads, or if Bush needs to specifically denounce the swift boat commercial and embrace the Bush = Hitler ads put out by Moveon.org

McCains silence since his first remarks are what I'd call dishonest and dishonorable.

I for one am a voracious consumer of news, as are most people on this forum, yet I haven't watched TV news or read newspapers for years, ever since I realized they were rat propaganda organs. When we talk to people who aren't yet tuned into the internet, FOX, and talk radio, we become force multipliers.

We need to get the word out, and DONATE to the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth.

Thanks, Carl. I've always thought the world of Sen. Dole. I've read some very cruel things said about him right here on FR, like when someone called him a "tax collector for the welfare state". He fought a very lonely fight for many years in the Senate when the Republicans were in the minority, and he often had to make compromises he didn't like, because half a loaf is better than nothing. I suspect that for all their swagger, his contemporary detractors would have gotten nothing at all.

You have to play the hand you're dealt. Sen. Dole was dealt a very tough hand, but he hung in and fought with with grace and guts, year in and year out. He has always been a man amongst men, and a great American.

Yes, I especially liked his attack on "Democrat wars" in the 1976 veep debate. When Mondale looked offended and said "Senator, you're not calling World War II a Democrat War," Dole's response was priceless. He held out his arm and said "I lost use of this arm in a Democrat war."
