Even the apolitical "only want to talk about hunting or SEC football" guys at my office are calling Kerry a wuus and a wimp over his crying. These guys never vote - but they do kinda give insight into the uninterested American mind.

Excellent Point!

I was a huge Dole supporter in '96.

I kept waiting for him to open a can hoop-ass on Clinton...but it never happened.

I don't know why. Maybe he was afraid to or maybe his handlers kept him in check too tightly.

He would have made a good President for us.

Because it gives the swift boat ads cover from being tied to Bush and shames the Kerry campaign and their ties to MoveOn and others?...

The 527s are the big hole in the campaign finance laws..I think its time to revisit and just cut out the hypocrisy of the laws..Their intent was to keep corporations ..from doing ads but the first amendment prevailed for independent groups.

The dems walked right through the holes, the left is sponsoring outrageous ads against Bush...and the dem operatives are working with them.

May we recommend a segment on Hardball? I would like to see Bob tear Chris a new one. Bob is campaignig for Bush better than he did himself.

President Bush is doing exactly what he should be doing concerning these ads.

IF he came out in support of any of them the media would have a field day and THAT would become the story.

I think it's time for Dubya to step up to the plate and back off from his 'honorable' statement

Mark Antony said Brutus was an honorable man, too. Everybody in the crowd knew better.

I think the exchange went more like: Presidential candidate John Kerry telephoned former Sen. Bob Dole Monday morning to complain about Dole's demand a day earlier that he apologize to Vietnam veterans for protesting the war, the one-time Republican presidential candidate revealed Monday afternoon.

"John Kerry called Bob Dole this morning, which surprised Bob Dole," Dole told radio host Sean Hannity. "He said he was very disappointed, we'd been friends. I said John, we're still friends, but [the Swiftvets] have first amendment rights, just as your people have first amendment rights.

Dole told Kerry, " Bob Dole’s not trying to stir anything up, but Bob Dole doesn't believe everyone of these people who have talked about what happened are Republican liars.

"And very frankly, Bush is Bob Dole’s guy, and I'm tired of people on your side calling him everything from a coward to a traitor to everything - a deserter."

Dole said he urged Kerry, "Why don't you call George Bush today and say, 'Mr. President, let's stop all this stuff about the National Guard and Vietnam - and let's talk about the issues."

Dole said Kerry responded, "I haven't spent one dime attacking President Bush."

But the Republican war hero shot back, "You don't have to. You've got all the so-called mainstream media, plus you've got MoveOn..org. and all these other groups that have spent millions and millions of dollars trying to tarnish Bush's image."

"Don't tell Bob Dole you don't know what some of these people are doing," he told Kerry.

"Everybody like quiet heroes," Dole added, saying he told Kerry, "John, everybody knows you were in Vietnam and the less you say about it, the better."

Dole said he tried to end the tense conversation cordially by telling Kerry, " Bob Dole wishes you good luck, up to a point."

I'm proud of Senator Dole.

I wasn't a conservative in '96 but I did cast my first presidential vote for Dole as character, and lack of, has always been my first criteria when assessing where to place my vote. Clinton was never eligible.

Hearing the Senator today I think there must be something in that sentorial water the Republicans drink that destroys their ability to fight. Since Dole left he's a change man. Or, as others say, maybe it's a certain pill responsible. LOL

He Hits, he scores, Dole take the Gold! LOL

Bob Dole spoke at my daughter's college graduation in'93. He was FANTASTIC!. She had absolutely no interest in politics then, though she did know who he was. She was quite impressed. He didn't give one of those speeches where you wish someone would just kill you and end your agony. He was truly funny. The only sour note was that he was introduced by George Mitchell.

Awesome! I knew I didn't waste my vote .. even if he did lose the election.

BUT .. we must remember that he lost the election because THE SAME MAINSTREAM MEDIA HID ALL THE GARBAGE ABOUT CLINTON, and they even tried to discredit Dole's PH - can you imagine ..??

BUT .. this time .. the MSM is not going to get away with this. The "new media" (including FR) will not allow the media to bring a curse upon America again.

Yeah I heard Bob Dole at a dinner in DC when he was senator. He is a great, funny speaker -- one of the best I've heard.

I heard W go out of his way to call Kerry service honorable, and that he should be proud. W needs to show a little loyality to the people fighting in the dirt. He does not need to go out of his way to cut the legs out from under them. Bob Dole knows how to take care of himself, but Dole senses blood in the water for the Kerry camp, and is willing to do the heavy lifting, but here comes Bush to save Kerry. Unbelievable.

Bob Dole on CNN's "Late Edition" yesterday (Sunday):
"I think Sen. Kerry needs to talk about his Senate record, which is pretty thin." Dole added. "That's probably why he's talking about his war record, which is pretty confused."

...

"One day he's saying that we were shooting civilians, cutting off their ears, cutting off their heads, throwing away his medals or his ribbons," Dole said. "The next day he's standing there, `I want to be president because I'm a Vietnam veteran.'"

...

Dole added: "And here's, you know, a good guy, a good friend. I respect his record. But three Purple Hearts and never bled that I know of. I mean, they're all superficial wounds. Three Purple Hearts and you're out."

You go BOB!!!

He was just on Hannity's program and went over the conversation line by line. Another vet followed who first heard Kerry's postwar treachery as a prisoner in Hanoi. Kerry has been successfully using this con game about his Vietnam feats of heroism for so long that he never dreamed he would get this reaction. He doesn't know what distaste veterans have for him because of his treasonous testimony. I think everyone just ignored him before when he was just another senator from Mass., but now that he is striving for the Presidency, all of his past misdeeds and the disgust he engendered are coming to the surface. He asked for it by making his Vietnam service the centerpiece of his campaign. Edwards helped to by his rhetorical challenge to spend some time with the men who served with Kerry to see what he is made of!
