Have had many MRIs but not in my rt. knee due to
total knee replacement
I know you're not supposed to be wearing metal (like jewelry), but I'm not sure about metal inside of you. Then again, I'm not a physician I only play one on the Internet.
From the MRI Research Center:
Eligibility criteria for participants
Before each MRI/MRS session there will be a series of screening and safety questions to determine if you are eligible for participation. In general, eligible participants must be able to answer NO to the following questions:
A. Do you have a cardiac pacemaker, neurostimulator or hearing aid?
The high magnetic field interferes with the proper functioning of implanted devices, like cardiac pacemakers.
B. Do you have any metal in or on your body?
This includes pins, screws, plates, scrapnel, clips and dental braces, but also jewelry and body piercing. Magnetic metals may get bent or moved out of place, while non-magnetic metals will tend to heat up.
C. Are you claustrophobic?
The MRI/MRS magnet is a long but very narrow (three feet) tube. When inside the magnet, the outside is not directly visible thereby emphasizing the impression of a narrow enclosed space. The coil, which resembles a helmet, is even smaller and may enclose your head with less than a few centimeters to spare. The cushions and head band used to minimize head motion will further reduce the available space.
While you will be able to get out of the magnet at any time during the experiment, you should be aware that it is an extremely confined space in which you will need to lie absolutely still for a minimum of one hour for a successful completion of the session.
I had an MRI last year and had to fill out a lengthy questionnaire and just don't remember if there were questions like that on there.
You can't have ANY METAL in the room..none, nana, zero, zilch...that big magnet will search and find any metal at all!!!!
me thinks the MRI was to check his prostate- he is lying
It would be steel since it was from a grenade and not from a bullet, wouldn't it?
What about tooth fillings?
That's great!! But the famed shrapnel in the thigh is actually from 20 Feb 69 action. It is probably the only "real" award of the lot.
I think if you just have a small piece in your leg, they can still able to do an MRI of your head.
It might just cook the rice-a-roni in his rear end!!
high frequency magnets, MRI still works, it just will fog up near the metal but the metal would show nice and bright. The MRI would be a golden find, if someone gets it and posts it, they are a hero. More than likely, the MRI will show nothing since the only thing up that butt is rice (and his high school sweet heart's dad shot him with rock salt from a shot gun inserted therein, likely this made it easier for the rice to make it there in the first place)
I can't remember what filings are made of these days, but I don't believe they are a true metal...
"I think it's a case of he had shrapnel before he didn't have it."
ROFLMAO
I've had three MRIs of my head. No metal allowed
on your body in the MRI room.
