21 days of Swifties and the MSM still dont cover it.

Posted on 08/25/2004 10:31:16 AM PDT by FesterUSMC

CNN is complaining that 21 days of the swiftboat thing has been going on but the MSM has yet to really cover the allegations with ANY balance. Article after article you read, "veterans against Kerry backed by Bush" WHERES THE PROOF!, "Veterans against Kerry though NONE of them served on his boat" Steve Gardner simply disappears from the earth even though he’s all over the radio. "Its lies, all lies!"

Even though
1. Christmas in Cambodia was a lie.
2. The no man left behind incident has been changed by the Kerry campaign SINCE the democratic convention supporting the swift vets claim Kerry’s boat fled.
3. Kerry's Purple heart has now been admitted by the Kerry campaign that it was gained under false pretences and the wound was self-inflicted
4. Then a lie that came out after the book was the "flying dog" lie that Kerry made to humaneusa.org

The media needs see the bias and cut the S*** and get down to the business of reporting and actually doing research.

They won't. They're part of the bias. They're doing their absolute, level best to suppress the Swiftvets.

Its diversionary. First they want to protect the public from the image of what Kerry was like in Vietnam. He comes off as a complete socio-path consumed with his power over the Vietnemese and manipulative and distrusting of the federal government. Later a collaborator in an plot to assassinate a senator and a competual lier, distorter, and all around bad guy. By focusing on the "Texas Nexus" they can avoid those issues and use the SwiftVets to attack Bush. It is unnerving to say the least.

It's really sad. God bless the swifties, we sent them a big check, but every time I see an article posted here supportive of them, it's always linked to NRO, Steyn, Townhall, etc. etc.

That the MSM continues in their bias is only to be expected, that the Republicans don't call them out on it is inexcusible.

Ya, because to actually respond with some actual investigative reporting might force them to have to report the TRUTH.

You watch the media though, they'll print anything the Dem's feed them in response as if it were the gospel.

Every last one of them covered the Swifties ad nauseum. What shows are you watching?

In your dreams. They want to see Kerry elected and unless he self-destructs, they're not going to drop the hammer on him. 90% of the mainstream media journalists are Democrats and liberals.

And everything else is filtered through their worldview. Wake up, the media is manipulating the public. This set of events (Swiftees) is one example among thousands.

Have to say that Lisa Myers covered it last night on NBC. She did a reasonable job of it. Made mistakes, but her mistakes actually hurt Kerry. I'd say it was 60/40 pro Kerry, which for the MSM is not bad.

You forgot:

* The Swift Boats operated in close coordination with each other, and it is easier to comprehend the worth (or danger) of one of the team members if you weren't on that same boat. How many of the non-sKerry boat members are supporting him?

No matter... this is really not about the Swift Boats any more.

This election has now become a DUEL TO THE DEATH between the Old Media papers and the Fraudcasters, set against the New Media: internet and talk radio.

We're not going away.

They're now giving the Swiftvets a lot of coverage but, aside from Fox, I haven't seen them doing much but trying to smear the Swiftvets. Even more important, everybody Fox blacked out the entire story from May 30, the date of the Swiftvets press conference, until they started running their ads. That was journalistic malpractice. Here was a totally unprecedented event, the vast majority of the men who served with a major party's apparent presidential candidate, swearing that he was unfit to serve and providing first hand evidence to back up their charges. Instead of covering this vital story they passionately covered all the lies and second hand bilge put out by the likes Michael Moore.

I wish we could all stop referring to them as "The Main Stream Media," and instead call them "The FORMERLY Main Stream Media!" (FMSM!)

They haven't been "mainstream," since World War II!!!

Walter Chronkite singlehandedly defeated the Unites States in the Vietnam War, for goodness sake!!! (along with help from John "Fonda" Kerry!!!)

The media needs see the bias and cut the S*** and get down to the business of reporting and actually doing research.

Actually this weeks US News & World Report has two articles questioning Kerry's Cambodia Christmas recollections and the fact that this might indicated a character problem with the Democratic candidate.

The media is slowly starting to recognize that their "fair haired boy" may have some warts and that as journalists they need to cover them, even if they try to apologize for him a bit.

The real issue here is that Unfit for Command has made the NY Time Best Seller List. If book sales stay strong for a few weeks, the media will know that the public has found out either by directly reading this book or by talking to friends and relatives who have read the book that Mr. Kerry embelishes things in addition to waffling on his positions. I feel that the public still remembers the lying, waffling presidency of Bill Clinton and doesn't want to repeat that.

At that point the media will be faced to deal with reality, which they are slowly getting around to, but kicking and screaming all the way. The mainstream media is just proving to the public that the mainstream media can not be trusted.

The other day, I listened to an NRR interview of an ACLU person and political activist talking about the coming Republican Convension demonstrations. What was striking abou t the interview was that they said that many people were now willing to demonstrate in large numbers because they had been alienated for so long.

I translated that to mean that many in the liberal left realize that the voters of the US have intensionally elected a Republican Senate, a Republican House of Represenatives and a Republican President and many many Republican Governors and don't like it that their views are no longer rubber stamped by government.

The media needs to sell advertising and generate money. Once they understand that they are no longer "main stream" things will change. We are seeing slow and small steps changes in those directions, whether it is the Dennis Miller show or Fox News dominating the cable channels.

Actually, I just did something for the fun of it. I did a Google Search on the words......"Christmas in Cambodia."

It was kind of eye-opening to see all the news, internet, blog, and other stories that this Google Search turned up.

What further surprised me was that most of them were fairly current, i.e within the last 3 or 4 days.

This story is growing and I now understand why Kerry and his machine are so upset that they are making presonal calls to the Swift Boat vets and trying to blackmail them either by attorneys or by private investigators.

2. The no man left behind incident has been changed by the Kerry campaign SINCE the democratic convention supporting the swift vets claim Kerry’s boat fled.

I've been confused on this since Elliott's original report had Kerry's boat moving away and providing cover fire.

3. Kerry's Purple heart has now been admitted by the Kerry campaign that it was gained under false pretences and the wound was self-inflicted

I've been searching for a quote that the campaign admitted this. I know O'Neill said they had on Fox, but I haven't found it yet. Any info?

Ramsey Clark to Join Panel for Saddam’s Defense

arabnews press release 25 August 2004

NOTE :
Ramsey Clark is pictured below with Kerry and
Vietnam phony vet Al Hubbard
Who was head of the
Vietnam Veterans Against the War movement.

NEW:

Kerry's "The New Soldier"
You can read it without downloading pdf files!

From Kerry's "The New Soldier":
Al Hubbard Sgt., 22 Troop Carrier Squadron Aug. ’65-June ’66

Emotions: Walking down the flight line at Saigon past stacks of aluminum cases containing American bodies and past stacks of aluminum luggage containing American currency. Seeing the tight, sad face of an Airman loading the bodies aboard a dirty Air Force Transport and the wide smiling face of a stewardess greeting the passengers aboard a clean Pan American Clipper Jet. Hearing a Vietnamese beg you to leave his country and an American colonel tells you to bomb his country. Hearing a Vietnamese invite you to live in his home, after the war and an American explain why you can’t live in his block, after the war. Flying over barren, brown, safe American held terrain and over lush, green unsafe enemy terrain. Feeling happy to be leaving a country in which you do not belong and sad to be returning to a country in which you are not allowed to belong. Sacrificing a portion of your consciousness so you won’t have to deal with being there and building mental blocks so you won’t have to deal with having been there.

- Al Hubbard, proven fraud who never set foot in Viet Nam. The only Vietnamese he ever met was when he was collaborating with the North Vietnamese in Paris
on the American Communist Party's nickel.
John Kerry's explanation: "He (Hubbard) simply exaggarated his particular position.
But nobody knew it at the time. And those things happen."

Good analysis. We are seeing hints that the media is starting to actually dig in and do some investigative journalism. The combination of bias and complexities of the events involved is tough though. This is a fascinating thread that reveals bias and poor reporting:

This is what I was talking about. They open with: "In a reversal of their staunch defense of John Kerry's military service record, Kerry campaign officials were quoted by Fox News saying that it was indeed possible that John Kerry's first Purple Heart commendation was the result of an, unintentional, self-inflicted wound."

I'm looking for the quote from Fox. So far, I've only heard SBVs saying that they said it.

And I don't recall (and didn't see upon rereading) Kerry mentioning the Bay Hap incident at the DNC.

During the Democratic National Convention, Kerry used the Bay Hap River incident to suggest that he alone returned to rescue Jim Rassmann—a Special Forces solider—who was on Kerry's boat and was tossed into the river. Kerry described this incident to the American people as "No man left behind."
