A quality education from people who care

Authors Note: Because the following editorial contains the everyday language of tenured professors at Rutgers University, it might be offensive to some readers.
Dear Professor Levitt (njlevitt@hotmail.com):
I am writing to compliment you on the eloquence of your recent response to my friend Mike Bayham, who writes a column for GOPUSA.com. Mike wrote a recent editorial on John Kerry that irritated you so badly you decided to write him with the following response:
I think turd eating, s*** sucking mother f***** fits you just about right
(although your mother was hardly worth it; my Lab Retriever up and caught the clap when he f***** your mama).
The height of polemical eloquence? Perhaps not. But then thrice-used scumbags like you hardly demand much recourse to the thesaurus. Die before you plan to, and in much pain.
NL
Well NL, unfortunately for you, Mr. Bayham did an e-mail trace and found out out that your name is Norman Levitt, that is Professor Norman Levitt of the Math Department at Rutgers University.
Since I was (past tense) thinking about recommending Rutgers University to some of my students considering graduate school, I have a few questions for you:
1. If I reconsider and decide to send my students to Rutgers, will you accuse them of eating fecal matter if they disagree with your political views?
2. Does your dog really have sex with human beings?
3. If you answered yes to # 2, who taught your dog to have sex with human beings?
4. Has Peter Singer of Princeton University called to ask whether he can take care of your dog the next time you are on vacation?
5. Did anyone ever tell you that you should never send an email message that you dont want to see on the cover of the New York Times?
6. Has the New York Times been in touch with you about this recent incident?
7. Why did you write ethics in the subject line of your email to Mr. Bayham?
8. Why do you want Mr. Bayham to die?
9. Did you mean to threaten Mr. Bayham? Was the message sent from your campus computer at Rutgers University? Is Rutgers a public university?
10. Has PETA decided to represent your dog since it allegedly contracted a disease from an abusive sexual act committed by a person you cite specifically?
I respectfully await your response. Sincerely,
Mike S. Adams
There are lots of people I don't like and who don't like me I must say, however, that of all the fools and knaves currently polluting our culture, the scurviest are the two-bit, loudmouthed, spirochete-ridden flacks who peddle horses*** on behalf of the scumbag GOP.
Wear it if it fits.
NL
In other words, Norman Levitt wasnt just having a bad day. This is the quality of discourse one can expect from a tenured professor at Rutgers University.
Hmm. Guess I can cross Rutgers off of my list of prospective colleges for my eventual brood ...
Disgusting potty-mouth Leftist PING.
I think all Freepers should send the POS professor a nice hello to his email address!

One entry found for spirochete. Main Entry: spi·ro·chete
Variant(s): also spi·ro·chaete /'spI-r&-"kEt/
Function: noun
Etymology: New Latin Spirochaeta, genus of bacteria, from Latin spira coil + Greek chaitE long hair -- more at SPIRE
: any of an order (Spirochaetales) of slender spirally undulating bacteria including those causing syphilis and relapsing fever
Not unusual at all. These are afterall, the supposed caring compassionate kumbaya types who can't abide any dissent of their rose (read Commie) colored world ...
Haha. It reminds of my BIO 201 teacher this summer talking about Clinton in class. I will paraphrase her: It's wrong that Clinton's legacy will be Monica. Any American who holds that over Clinton is wrong...blah blah blah.
I then reminded her that if he didn't want that as his legacy, he shouldn't have "immortalized it in a 1000 page book." ...............apparently she decided at that time we should get back to studying Anatomy and Physiology instead of politics. I can still see the dumbfounded fear laden look on her face. She didn't have some dumb, malleable teenager in front of her and she didn't know what to do. ahhahahahaha. It was beautiful and felt great.
To think my 18 yr old is leaving for college tomorrow. This is not the type of language I want her to be exposed to, but thankfully she is going to Texas A&M.
The overall tenor of the spew coming from the Democrats is actually quite startling in its intensity. The level of raw hatred and venom on public display is troubling for us as a society.
To put it simply, hatred begets violence. I would not put it past some very high-profile democrat operatives to start calling for violence against the executive branch. I know that sounds outlandish today, but the way things are disintegrating when it comes to decorum and basic manners and respect for other human beings, I don't think it's far off...
She'll be alright. I'm in college in AZ not Texas but to my suprise, there are many Conservatives around, and I believe the number is growing. I see more W stickers than Benedict Arnold stickers.
"I think all Freepers should send the POS professor a nice hello to his email address!"
Better yet, copy his boss on them as well.
His specialty is math, not English.
Why do I suspect the "R" defense?
Bump to that! Let me add that I am the same way! I work, pay taxes, pray, and have intercourse with BamaAndy's wife! That doesn't make me a bad person!
(Kidding. I had to do it. ;)
If anyone can find his boss' email address, that woud be most useful.
I wonder how the alumni of Rutgers feel about this?
And I bet he admired his former colleague in the math profession, the UNAbomber. Hint to mathemeticians, the fact that you may be good at solving abstract problems is a hint you might not be so good with politics or even say human interactions.
Rutgers Univ is okay. New Jersey is okay, too. The Princeton Univ campus is a little more attractive and not so much entangled in the direct rough and tumble local community, but a prospective student would benefit from a year at a prep school.
My daughter started college this Monday (IU). Her English professor promptly handed the students an article to read, some anti-war garbage. It has been my experience over the years from elementary on up, that English teachers have an agenda.
BTTT!!!!!!
Not that it has much to do with the Bush 41's library being there, but just down from the main campus area, there is a store that is called "Bush Country". The store has basically nothing but Bush re-election articles. Hats, bumper stickers, yard signs, tee shirts, etc.
THis pervert has given that column more publicity and exposure than it could ever have otherwise.
Anyone found a link to the editorial?
I'm an RU alumnus and this is typical of most Northeast University faculty -- really, most U.S. higher ed. faculty. Only surprises me in that a guy from the Math Dept. wrote this before someone from the Sociology or English Dept. got a chance.
I have Bush/Cheney pin on my backpack in plain view hoping to start a debate, argument, ruckus, whatever....
I'm guessing that's a word he learned from his doctor on a recent visit. Where else would one hear it?
I had a really good 102 professor. She was apolitical in class. I also had a lot of lefty teens that I enjoyed smacking down on a daily basis. I thought sometimes I could see her grinning slightly so she may be TRUE.
My, my, what a potty mouth you have. Didn't your mother ever wash your mouth out with soap?
There are those who base their bigotry on ancestry.
There are those who base their bigotry on religious preferences.
There are those who base their bigotry on ideology.
I surmise from your rantings and droolings, replete with juvenile schoolyard epithets, that your bigotries are based on at least two of these three categories.
Perhaps the rarefied air of your ivory tower has deprived you of the cognitive faculties to see your bilious prattle for the flaming hypocrisy it so obviously is.
I hope to share your wild-eyed frothings with those looking for a college in which to promote the higher education of their children. Judging from the mental dispostitions of professors such as yourself, they are unlikely to consider Rutgers as long as those of your ilk remain there.
You have the freedom to speak the paranoid thunderings of a short-circuited mind.
We have the freedom to choose where to spend our education dollars.
It is my fervent hope that increasing numbers of people will come to disdain and marginalize purveyors of bellicose, hateful, foul- mouthed twaddle such as yours, regardless of the ideology or academic status it attempts to hide behind.
Regards,
It's been my experience, and that of many other faculty, that the math types are a bit, uh, strange.
In particular, they are often not as good at math itself as the non-specialist science and business types who have to make practical use of it.
This is actually fairly common with those whose academic specialty is the skills themselves, rather than their practical application.
How many top authors, for example, have Ph.D.s in literature?
My daughter wanted to buy a A&M for Bush/Cheney tee shirt last weekend. She will probably have one before the election. Most of the students there are Conservative. Fits her to a tee.
I'd hold off before categorizing Levitt as "extreme left." Take a look at the books he's authored, including one that brilliantly dissects the postmodernist twaddle that is handed out in academe these days.
I also looked around for any references ot that email address on Google (in web pages or newsgroups). What I found was in his area of expertise, mathematics, and the messages were uniformly helpful, courteous, and displayed thorough knowledge of his field. Too bad he apparently went off the deep end when it came to politics.
The newest thing out here (AZ) is hot sauce on the tongue!
Habanero Regulator.
The Boy started parochial school this morning. Last year he was in a school with Socialist teachers. I drove them NUTS when I showed up after school in BDU's. I almost drove a company Hummer to school for show and tell!
"Bump to that! Let me add that I am the same way! I work, pay taxes, pray, and have intercourse with BamaAndy's wife"
ME TOO!
(I think he will regret this thread)
ROTFLMFAO!!! That's tooooo funny. Cheers.
From their web site..

Maybe he's just upset that he is on the Bush (Busch) campus...
What we need is to remind him of a math formula to produce said s*:
1 female Jack Russell Terrier + 1 Shit-Tzu = Jack .......
Actually, marlon, I just sent an email to the Senior Director of Media Relations for Rutgers, and cced Front Page Mag (David Horowitz), Michelle Malkin, and WorldNetDaily for good measure.
It's so good to see the liberal bugs come out of the woodwork. They normally like to work in the darkness.
Eloquent and skewering!
This pleases me. I am a Gen X, Generation Reagan, Young Conservative (relatively since I'm 32) etc and i'm so happy to see American Patriotism being restored to its rightful place in society.
P.S. I'm a newb here to FR, how do I get a tagline??? Also, are there any other Arizona FReepers present?
Statement on The Medium Richard L. McCormick, President April 22, 2004 The cartoon that the student publication, The Medium, ran on its April 21 cover page, making light of the Holocaust, is outrageous in its cruelty. It desecrates the memory of 6 million innocent Jewish people, and many other groups, who were brutally murdered by one of the most hateful regimes in human history. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the editors have caused tremendous hurt among their fellow students and the larger community by their disregard for the standards of civility, diversity and collegiality. The editors may think this is satire, but I completely disagree. While this student-funded publication is protected by the First Amendment, the vicious, provocative and hurtful material the editors have chosen to publish is completely at odds with our values as a university. I urge the students involved in this publication to reflect on what they have done, take responsibility for their actions and apologize for the hurt they have caused to our community. Richard L. Bet that hit some nerves. My daughter's HS is in an area that is heavily populated with Conservative. There are also quite a few ex military there, so me showing up in BDUs did not make a big impact. Wearing my Class A uniform to the Veteran's Day ceremony at the school had many of the students coming up and wanting their picture taken with me. Never thought about taking a Hummer to school. The kids would have gone wild.
All that suggests is that there are persons in academia who are even further left (such that Levitt debunks them from the more-traditional right). Besides, I was talking about his being "extreme left" precisely "when it comes to politics." If this sort of email barrage doesn't safely put him in that category, nothing can.
Also, young padewan...you must fully understand the meanings of the following words and/or phrases to be accepted as a true FReeper...

Good for you. Welcome to FR. Why are you starving?
I have really never had any particular problem with my math colleagues. It is certainly an area like literature, music etc where the weak minded might easily become a leftist. It is to my mind just important to keep in mind a mathematician has no more expertise in picking a candidate than my garbageman.
And I really have no problem with this foul mouth character providing:
1. He does not allow his politics into the classroom. [This should be no problem in math. It is an issue in other disciplines.]
2. He was not sending that foul post from an RU site. I post from work on FR and it is not may inclination to post such foul garbage, but if I were really mad and planning to write such an e-mail, I would know better than to use University resources to do so.
Claqss out the ass, that professor has.
