First Lady Bush Snubs P. Diddy
IMDb.com ^ | 8-25-04

Posted on 08/25/2004 5:44:28 PM PDT by Paul Atreides

First Lady Laura Bush stunned organizers at Monday night's grand opening of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati by refusing to appear alongside rapper Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs. Bush - wife of President George W. Bush - was scheduled to join actress Angela Bassett and U2 frontman Bono at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, but snubbed the event to prevent photographers snapping her with hip-hop mogul Combs. Insiders claim Bush was eager to avoid publicity with Combs - who subsequently axed his appearance at the event after news of the First Lady's decision broke - because of his notorious background. A source tells New York website Pagesix.Com, "Her reps made it very clear to Freedom Center that they would not have Laura Bush appearing in the same photo-op as P. Diddy. I'm not really sure why they didn't want her to pose with him, but maybe it has something to do with his scandalous past. For whatever the reason, Laura Bush's people did not want her photo taken with him." And staff at the center were further infuriated when Combs pulled out of the ceremony. A spokesman says, "I am not privy to why he's not coming. We are very disappointed." The hip-hop star blamed "an unexpected personal obligation" on his no-show.

After the way Ozzie turned on W, after W was nice to him, I don't blame Laura for doing this. I just wonder if her staff caught wind of some sort of planned disrespect towards Laura, and headed it off. I can just picture Pee Diddy refusing to pose with Laura.

The organizers have no one but themselves to blame.

It's nearly unthinkable for anyone to have standards anymore. Laura broke the rules of "tolerance" and "understanding." Incidentally, good for her!

It was an undeserved honor for Ms. Bush even to attend.

I would think it is because he is just not a very good example of a human being.

Proverbs 22:1 says, "Rather than wealth, choose a good reputation, esteem over silver and gold."

Laura knows this well, which is why she chose NOT to be there.

who subsequently axed his appearance at the event

Shouldn't that be "who subsequently asked his appearance at the event"?

He's a publicity ho. Why on earth would Laura Bush want to help out this jackass.

I remember way back (15 years?) when a rap concert he promoted in Harlem turned into a stampede killing 3.

I just heard mentioned on Fox that one of the Bush daughters was dissed by P. Diddy - disinvited to a fashion show or something when he found out her father ordered the invasion of Iraq. She was upset by it.

Laura is a lady, but when I look in her eyes I see she is made out of steel. Maybe she was angry over her daughter?

Interesting if that's true. P. Diddy is very close friends with Ashton Kutcher who claimed the Bush twins partied with him, underage drinking and "smoked on a hoookah" with his friend. He's a major league sleazeball. I hear he's attempting to get into the GOP convention and parties too. He's nothing more than a sleazeball.
