whatever.
I thought the biggest thing that came from this Beckel interview - it sounded like, assuming Beckel was working from the Kerry talking points, that the Kerry campaign is going to "go fot it" regarding the labeling of US soliders in Vietnam as generally commiting the acts he described in his testimony.

Bob Beckel's been a Class-A Clymer since the day he was whelped. I'd expect as much from him. Has Beckel tried, threatened to or made an insinuation of desire or intent...yet....to slug, or otherwise assault O'Neill?

Let's not give any more lawyers any more MILLION$ by suing.
Time to bring back the Duel. For a name calling transgression - bare fists would suffice - especially with the lying party being beaten to a bloody pulp.
It will never be until we outlaw all lawyers - since they could not get their "pieces of silver" from an "affair of honor".

yes, but do you think the Kerry camp is going to actually defend that position? No. They are going to slime the messenger. If he says 2.5 million Vietnam veterans are war criminals (well, except for the Swiftees, says Kerry, I didn't mean them), he'll be writing off all of their votes, forever. Including in Massachusetts when he's next up for Senate.

yes, but do you think the Kerry camp is going to actually defend that position? Defend it? He's already half way towards applying it to Iraq. Asking Rumsfeld to resign clearly shows that he thinks the entire military, from Rummy on down, is complicit in the abuses at Abu Ghraib.
Kerry could be painting himself into a very, very dangerous corner.

That the entire military system encouraged war crimes. The part about Genghis Khan is what infuriates me. Sure, a few, very few soldiers did wrong. Maybe in retaliation. But it was the Communist who were the were ravishing the countryside like Genghis Khan. Its pretty clear who side John Kerry is on.

you can probably also use it to force Kerry to go into court and explain why his military records shouldn't be released in their entirety given that a) he has already released some of his military records and b) he said on Meet the Press he would release all of his military records.
To: plain talk
That's the idea.....Today FOX said Kerry had signed the release form when he asked for his new medals.....Several Freepers seem to think that the Swifties already have copies of his military records....That may be why sKerry & CO is reacting like they are......

Is Beckel the best that the Dems could do to defend Kerry?

To: hoosiermama; SheLion
When law suits involve "public officials" the slander and libel bar is raised VERY high. See
New York Times v. Sullivan. As a result it is VERY rare for a "public figure" to win such a suit.
Given that, Kerry suing O'Neill is good. O'Neill suing Beckel is bad. But neither matters a whole lot, since nothing would be remotely resolved before the election -- and wouldn't matter after the election. This whole matter is going to be tried before a jury of 288 million, rather than a jury of 12.

"Big Pussy" realizes that the jig is up and his so pissed he can't see straight. The Swiftie assault on John F-ing has gained so much momentum that even a few well placed and timed Arkancides won't stop it. He knows that him and Al Torrez's gangster and union thuggee buds can't put this genie back in the bottle.

But, that's exactly how Kerry is trying to spin the "supposed" atrocities in Vietnam. That they were ordered by the leaders.
It just wasn't his fault, what could he do, but follow orders.
