Thanks for this piece. Most people probably won't bother to read it but it tells a story of a guy who met the requirements for service. Was he a war hero? No but then again, who said he was supposed to be. Another issue to consider is the smearing of the Guard by the democrats. They have made it sound like it was a joke to serve there, that there were no requirements and that by joining the Guard you were a draft dodger and a scumbag.

Democrats knew Kerry wasn't exactly what he said he was. Bush's records were suppose to be worse so they could use them to protect Kerry.
Bush released all his records without fear, because there was nothing bad in them. He let the world see them all.
Not so with Kerry. His records are so bad, he hides them in shame.
Hannity was hammering a Kerry spokesman last night on FOX, asking him if Kerry will be like Bush and sign an F180. The guy wouldn't answer. He kept trying to change the subject.

I've said this numerous time on FR...I think it's a big mistake for the Dems to bash Guard Service as something "lesser". Nothing like alienating another military group. I'm sure the National Guardsmen in Iraq or Afghanistan won't take to kindly to it.
