Six weeks ago??? He didn't hear about Kerry's bogus reports until six weeks ago? No wonder nobody (except O'Neill) challenged him before. He wrote the reports, turned them in, no review or scrutiny, and that was that.

I take it this incident is one that Kerry obtained no award for. This must be the Janaury 20 sampan incident.

Kerry told the committee on April 22, 1971, "...I can recall often sending in the spot reports which we made after each mission..."

Kerry's own words are coming back to haunt him.

Military officers are expected to be honest in their reports. It's a given. Unless there were some specific and compelling reason to suspect that a report was fraudulent, it would have been accepted as a truthful account of what happened. Any fellow skipper who requested to review them would have been viewed as questioning a fellow officer's integrity.

As an enlisted man under his commnad, Gardner would normally not have ever seen kerry's after-action reports.
