FoxNews Juan Williams: Ignorant Democratic Talking Head
Self

Posted on 08/26/2004 4:14:14 PM PDT by technomage

Sorry Freepers, but I have had it with Juan Williams.

I am tired of his imitation of someone that actually thinks for himself, someone that has brains. Juan Williams is just plain ignorant, a talking head for the libs.

A few years ago, I can remember Juan Williams DEFENDING Palestinian terrorists/murderers as freedom fighters. This was right in the middle of the last massive wave of terrorist attacks in Israel that killed dozens of innocent civilians, including children, teenagers and babies. Juan Williams just could not call these subhumans terrorists: He called them freedom fighters thereby trying to legitimize their actions. That same week many of the liberal talking heads were using the same terminology. Ergo, Juan Williams did not think for himself, come to those conclusions himself. He was using Democratic talking points.

Fast forward to the last couple of weeks. When asked if the 527's that have been absolutely bashing and smearing the Bush administration for the past year are in the same category as the SwiftBoat Vets, he said, and I paraphrase: "The SwiftBoat Vets are using smear tactics while the other organizations are just using hard hitting political commentary".

Once again Juan Williams shows just how much of a puppet he is.

Today Juan Williams said (with a straight face) that NONE of John Kerry's accounts of Vietnam have been shown to be false. He even went so far as to say that the proof that Kerry was not under fire during his first purple heart, Kerry's diary, only referred to the CREW, not to KERRY. WTF??? The crew was not under fire but Kerry was? Juan Williams may be losing his last 2 functioning brain cells!!

Too bad that a supposed journalist does not pay attention to the events of the day. We all know that many of Kerry's claims have been proven false and others are falling apart. Evidently Juan Williams is just an obedient hack, mindlessly recounting the talking points that he obviously receives throughout the day.

Juan Williams is the perfect example of the brain dead, incredibly biased, nasty left media of today. They cannot think for themselves, they will not think for themselves, and they believe that the American public is so damn stupid that they can spew their poison and lies with abandon.

Guess you can tell, I do not like Juan Williams at all. If I met him on the street, I would spit in his face and walk away, just like I would with a few other supposed "big name" media figures. Juan Williams is a disgrace, not believing in the American public's intelligence and ability to make rational decisions.

The left does have one thing right: If they actually reported the news in a neutral manner, the slow ebb away from liberalism we have all seen over the past few years would turn into a torrent. The left knows that. That is why they must lie, cheat, smear, do anything and everything underhanded and illegal to get what? Their power, nothing more.

Poor little Juan is just another mindless liberal pawn in this liberal conspiracy of lies and deceit.

So, Kerry lied to his own diary?

Gosh, where have we heard THAT before?

I, for one, am willing to give Juan the benefit of the doubt. He may not be ignorant. He probably is just devious and dishonest.

I don't think much of Juan Williams either. He never strays from the Dem talking points. He cannot think for himself and never has any insight or original thoughts. Whenever I hear him I always think how standards were lowered to get a minority.

Josh Steiner was reduced to claiming to lie to his own diary when its account of Sick Willie's activities varied from the official line.

At least Kondracke, Barnes, Connelly and others give opinions that are sometimes very contradictory to the talking points of the day. Mort Kondracke in particular is not bad for a liberal. I could probably have a decent discussion with him.

We have to believe that Kerry took fire at a different time than the other guys who were in the same boat at the same time. These dots just don't connect.

Everything could be "cleared up" if Kerry would just release his medical and military records---ALL OF THEM! (instead of going after irrelevant data about the swifties!)

Josh Steiner -- Formerly Treasury chief of staff at the tender age of 28, Steiner essentially told Senate investigars he had lied to his diary, which said Clinton "was furious" at Roger Altman's decision to recuse himself. "Persuaded George [Stephanopoulos] that firing him [the RTC investigator] would be incredibly stupid and improper," the notes read. "I wish that my diary was more accurate," Steiner told incredulous Republicans and sympathetic Democrats.

the way Kerry's diary statement was phrased, I can see why the Dem spin might stick on this statement....

IF I understand it correctly, the spin is that since he was assigned to his own boat/command, his new crew hadn't been fired upon, yet.

If the first purple heart was obtained from his dust-up with schrapnel on the Boston Whaler/training mission on 12/2, then this journal entry could make some sense.

This statement is less to hang him on than plenty of other issues...I think this particular issue is a little thin. I would rather hit him with the Admiral on 12/2. The doctor on 12/2.etc., etc....

I think I know what he is talking about here, and while I am in a minority I actually do not consider that diary entry to be particularly controversial.

Remember, when he received his first Purple Heart, he was not on PCF 44. He had not taken command yet. The boat he was on was a whaler. Once he took command of his boat, the situation, the hostilities, were all different. As a result I believe it is reasonable for him to say that "We had not yet taken fire."

If I visit New York City and am mugged, I will not necessarily start walking around in mortal fear when I return to my safe hometown.

I know I am in the minority here but I think that it is VERY important strategically to nail Kerry only when the evidence is IRREFUTABLE and also UNEXPLAINABLE. Otherwise, our credibility suffers. This is not one of those cases.

I absolutely agree with you, but this was not about Kerry, or the evidence showing his lies. This was about the very weak way in which Juan Williams presents what are supposedly his views when in fact they are the talking points that he received that day.

This new spin on the diary entry is already making the rounds.

"We had not yet taken fire."

Given that Kerry is given to the royal 'we,' I disagree.

Seriously, given his narcissism, don't you think he would have distinguished himself in this reference? Remember, his CO had disallowed the Purple Heart he had requested. Who knows when he resubmitted the request--it may well have been after this entry, which I believe adds to the preponderance of the evidence. I believe it's useful to use all arguments in favor of your point, especially when you have a smear merchant like Bill O'Blowhard arguing that Rassmann is the ideal eye witness after admitting that he spent the event in question (the Bronze Star and 3rd Purple Heart) on the bottom of the river.

If they didn't have Juan on they couldn't say they were "fair and balanced". Without Juan they would just have to sit around and talk to each other. With Juan there they can argue their point. No, not necessarily. I would argue it was far more dramatic in this case not to do so. Besides, he had ample opportunity in other passages of his diary to puff himself up.

Remember, his CO had disallowed the Purple Heart he had requested. Who knows when he resubmitted the request--it may well have been after this entry, which I believe adds to the preponderance of the evidence.

Look, I totally believe that the first Purple Heart was fabricated. But look, every time the MSM gets a good opportunity to slap-back the anti-Kerry crowd, it chips away at the credibility of that effort. Take for example the new AP story about Lambert: he recalls enemy fire in the Rassmann incident. You can bet the MSM is going to milk that for all it is worth. Likewise, the MSM is going to accept any explanation that helps them write off this diary entry The non-royal "we" explanation is plausible, and therefore they will run with it.

Hence it is of no use to us to put forth evidence that is easily explained away. We have to stick with evidence that is rock solid.
