A piece of Britney Spears' discarded chewing gum has been withdrawn from eBay after boasts that it contained her DNA.
According to the Daily Mirror, bids for the gum on the internet auction site had already reached £280, when the site realised the sale contravened its Human Body Parts and Remains policy.
The advert stated that the gum complete with teeth marks- was kept in an airtight container after the pop princess spat it out while she was staying at a London hotel this year.
Interested bidders were told: For you budding scientists out there, this means Britneys DNA is all over this piece.
The seller had to withdraw the item briefly, but it was back on the site and up for sale yesterday (Aug 26).
The description has now been changed and reads: I am now allowed to list this item with a few alterations to my wordings...this is the original gum that Britney spat out in the Sanderson Hotel foyer during her famous stay in February.
It has not been touched since it was in Britneys mouth. It is completely preserved.
This is the chance to own a piece of pop history right from the mouth of the pop princess herself.
EBay said: The main selling point was the DNA which is not allowed.
The auction is due to run until September 5.
Wow. Just when you thought you had seen it all...
Wow, I need this item! Then I can pop it in the clone-a-matic and have my very own Brittany!!
Sheeeeeesh
Of course, I know she's hot and everything but...this is just weird! :-Þ
LOL!
I would rather give Britney some of my DNA :-)
That, or you'll end up with another overpriced piece of chewed-up gum.
Yep!
