Rumsfeld, "God damn it! Get them out!"

U.S. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld

Upon watching a bleeding American soldier from TV last year, Professor Moon Jung-in revealed the behind-story of sped-up U.S. pullout

Cho Hyung-rae

date: 08/27/2004 18:40 26'

Moon Jung-in(professor of Yonsei Univ), the Chairman of Presidential Advisory Committee for N.E. Asian Age, told today (Aug. 27), "The scaling-back of U.S. troops in S. Korea is basically the result of changing U.S. global strategy since 9/11 terrorist attacks. However, 'small' mistakes(such as anti-American protests) sped up the process."

Chairman Moon said at the monthly breakfast meeting sponsored by International Management Institute of Federation of Korean Industries, "Dec. 30 last year, an American network NBC News aired a video clip of 3~5 seconds in length, which showed an American MP at Yongsan base bleeding after being hit by a rock thrown by a S. Korean student. Upon seeing this, Rumsfeld was furious. He snapped, "God damn it! Get them out!"

He went on to say, "There has been a discussion on the reduction of ground troops because American global strategy has changed. However, I can say for certain that the schedule is moved up because of this kind of small mistakes, and this is my first-hand experience."

Small mistakes? After whipping up anti-American hysteria for months? Maybe small for lefties. I hate these cowardly apologists, serving the pinko "Juche" hardcores.

I don't know what to make of this. Maybe he meant, as if talking to the TV, 'get the bleeding MP out and away from that salivating, fascist mob'. Who know? One thing is for sure. Cohen and his political staff would probably have had no such concern for our men, in that way.

Obviously, I was not at the scene with Rumsfeld. So I am not in a position to dispute Mr. Moon.:)

Interesting that Rummy is on the JFKerry "hit" list. Contrast and compare JFKerry's method of operation and that of Rummy. JFKerry's pit awaits him.

I think the Korea pullout is part of our tacit admission that PRK has the bomb. Standard US war college strategy for the last decade has been to get your forces away from a WMD armed adversary. Instead the US will rely on superior force projection ability to continue to deter the North from a safe distance.

I was just thinking that! (Could hear him saying that.)

Now, compare this fine man (and so many other good men and women in this administration) to the pondscum that wants to be president (and the pondscum hangers-on who would join his administration). Can anyone tell me HOW nearly 50% (in good polls) of Americans would vote for the flipflopping, lying, phoney, pumped up, self-important, gold-digging, wannabe-warrior?

Here is the conundrum: These countries whip up leftist anti-Americanism and when we decide to pull out troops - troops that have deterred other invading countries and helped their economies they all of a sudden have a come to Jesus moment. I want to say "Screw you" and leave. Then what happens? Then the do get invaded and everyone comes running to the US to bail them out. Repeat cycle.

Rummy is a hero. :-)

I'm convinced we are pulling our troops with solid reasoning for the move, though nothing will convince me the anti-Americanism isn't a factor.

Amazing how the Franchurian Candidate le Jacquestrap moi Kerri screams that removing our troops from the Korean and German Quagmires is bad for America and the world. Yet he wants us to pull out Iraq before the job has been done.

I recall seeing anti-U.S. protests from Korea as we went into Iraq. We were told then that there would be even more massive pro-U.S. shows of support. I just don't recall that the pro-U.S. demonstrations ever materialized.

The Lefties have a strong hold in Korea. It's best we pull out and draw closer with Japan and do what we can to encourage our Asian allies to do more to protect themselves. Japan is making some progress and Taiwan is doing well. And our carrier exercises and presence are a message to North Korea and China that is well-understood.

South Korea probably should develop a few nukes, given the neighborhood they're in.

Is this article suggesting that Rumsfeld ordered a withdrawal based on a thrown rock? I would hope there was a more strategic reason for the change.

SK is going to have some "Seoul-searching" to do on this (boy am I glad no one can reach far enough to whack me for that one). Either they're going to "Deal" with their idiotic leftist student contingent, or figure out a way to not get overrun by the entirely militarized NK which has invested all of its income in armaments while SK has relied on the US to pay for their protection while they build a high-tech manufacturing infrastructure and get fat and run domestic American industries out of business (as have the Germans and the Japanese and the Taiwanians and... Hmmm, do I see a *pattern* here??).

Shipping the fresh-faced, idealistic young student activists to NK to experience the fruits of the wonderful Socialist revolution there sounds like a good educational traveling student experience for them (if they survive).

There was also that CBS 60 Minutes segment that sealed the deal. Koreans asked for this, and now that they get it, they are crying foul. Rummy called the Koreans' bluff.

Not just the rock. South Koreans have hated and shown contempt for Americans for years. During the Clinton years, my son served in Korea, and since he understood the language, knew a lot of what was said in front of Americans in their own language.
