Is also true in the Clintonian sense, and extremely misleading in the Clintonian tradition. Cleland did lose his limbs on a battlefield. It is just that the battle was over when he lost them. In much the same way if I lost a limb in a car accident while touring the Gettysburg battlefield I could say that I lost my limb on the battlefield of Gettysburg.

The key distinction is that 'field' He didn't quite say that Cleland lost his limbs in battle, only that he lost them on a battlefield.

Calm down, but only a little. I don't know what makes libs fabricate or embellish combat histories and this goes to the VVAW members (Kerry's buddies) that had no military service at all. Perhaps a calmly written letter to Charles Krauthammer would persuade him to write a column that would enlighten all of us. Krauthammer is a syndicated columnist and also a psychiatrist.
