NEW YORK -- Two Brooklyn men have been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to bomb a subway station in midtown Manhattan, sources said early Saturday.
At least one of the men may have an affiliation with a terrorist organization, according to two law enforcement sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The sources said the group in question was not believed to be al-Qaida.

Just goes to show the liberal mindset; Two Muslim mutts try to bomb a subway, but let`s protest the people trying to stop it. How many years/days is it after 911, I`m still waiting for the "Down with Al-Qaeda" tee shirts or "Anyone but Al-Qaeda" posters.

the group in question was not believed to be al-Qaida. The men appeared to be acting independently, Release their names(ie. John Smith,William Murphy)then I'll believe it.
But their names are more likely Ali Akbar,Mohamed,or some other sand flea name.

Are they connected to the DNC? Have they ever contributed money to a democrat?
If the Swift Boat Vets are an arm of the Republican Party because they include some who donated to the RNC, then these terrorists would be an arm of the DNC if they include anyone who has donated to the DNC.
Headline - Democrats try to blow up NY subway!

It's almost as though they invite another 9/11. Gee if innocent Americans get attacked you have to look long and hard for sympathy in you heart? I work in NYC and I can tell you most everyday citizens are apolitical. They would be the ones hurt/killed. And you could care less because of loud mouth left wing AHs in Manhattan? With friends like you......

Please re-read my post. I said "most" because the majority of New York and NYC reject any intelligent policy to thwart terrorism--they say so at the ballotbox, and they're saying so during these upcoming demonstrations. I don't call this deliberate siding with the enemy "innocent." My prayers would be with those who tried to do the right thing--but sorry, no more prayers for those who fight tooth and nail to prevent the very terrorism that will one day kill them.

I was the first caller into Paul Harris's show here in STL yesterday. The topic was a High School teacher who was censured and reassigned when he had his current events class do a report on Abu Grahib. After decrying the PC boobs we have become, I further expounded on how the "panty scandal" was kept alive by the media in order to discredit Bush. I claimed that the panty wearers were the ones who tortured and killed under Saddam, and if all they had to do was wear womens underwear in captivity, they should count themselves lucky. I went further; "How do you think our troops feel when they see our media just trashing and rehashing Abu Grahib at the same time they claim to support the troops? I was able to close with the fact that now all captured terrorists would play the AG card to garner sympathy. He then cut me off.

And I should add--I live in "flyover country" and I can tell you that sentiments are far more harsh than mine at the local "spit & whittle" cafe. Sit around and listen to the farmers and ranchers awhile, and you'll get an earfull of how tired they are of east and west coasters calling so many of the wrong shots. There are some Democrats among them, yet even they resent the kind of nonsense coming out of the extreme coasts.
Most of these folks were not directly hit by what happened on 9/11, yet they (we) have the good sense to know we can't just give the terrorists a "time-out" as the U.N., Kerry, and the Left would have us do. They/we suffered economically and in some ways emotionally (as did the entire country) for what happened on 9/11: should we continue to pay for the folly of the stupid?
Well, of course we will. But that doesn't mean we'll like it, nor does it mean we will admire the people who refuse to wake up and smell the coffee.
So New York can vilify the one person who is doing something sensible about terrorism all they want. It is their 1st Amendment right--but don't expect folks out here in flyover country to applaud. And those extremist fools (obviously not you) should not wince if someone says, "We told you so."

I've 'set foot' there. (Lived in Albany for 5 years in the 90's) But you're right, I don't know that much about bout NYC now. All I know is how the votes go (Hillary, Nadler, etc.) and what the citizens are saying about conservatives and about the war in Iraq.
In general the level of hatred for the President and all things conservative is just incredible. According to Fox this morning, taxi drivers say they won't pick up Republicans (I presume that means if they can be id'ed as such by wearing hats, pins, etc.). Broadway performers are saying they will have a "sick out" so they won't have to perform for Republicans.
What else are we supposed to think? From where we sit, it looks like most of NY doesn't want Republicans, or for anyone to actually DO something about terrorism.

Broadway performers...who many are real NYers as opposed to people who came here from other states to make it? Probably 0-5%. Taxi drivers...how many even born in the States? Probably the same%. National media types? Almost none from NYC......don't let people who come here from othere places (maybe even your town) define for you what a NYer is.

More than half the votes nationwide in 2000 were for Gore. Anyone in your town vote for him? NYC is one of the places where libs and lefties flock to. That doesn't make them NYers any more than my moving to Montana would make me a cowboy.

Looks to me like most New Yorkers elect RATs. Yes you are right, but it's not material to the conversation. Even if NY elects 100% socialists, (remember the Mayor and Gov are pubbies) it's callous to say you'd have mixed feelings if terrorists struck again and thousands die.
To: MizSterious
It is their 1st Amendment right--but don't expect folks out here in flyover country to applaud. Hell I live in NJ and work in NYC and I sure as hell don't applaud. I see these lefties in the street all the time and want to kick their asses back to their rich mommies and daddies.
My point is that there is more to NYC than crazy lefties and to say your ambivalent if thousands of innocents die (because of these ignorant lefties) is something that should be condemned.

My family comes from NY and long considered NYC *their town*.
I was last there in 1987. No one was particularly friendly and at that point in time the tourist taxes added up to 19% on top of already inflated prices.
The 911 attacks affected the entire country. Not only the economic costs, but we all have friends and family who live there or could be there for work on any given day. 9-11-01, my husband went to the local lumber yard to pick up an order for a major remodeling we were in the midst of and was told we were lucky to get ours because the broker used by the yard was located in the WTC. My BIL works for a major hedge fund. Their major trading partners, Cantor Fitzgerald, were in the WTC and he spent the next 2 weeks getting their worldwide communications back online.
For decades, New Yorkers have prided themselves on their street smarts and their arrogance and their disdain for those of us in the heartland. It's in the air. 2 seconds off the plane and the attitude just hits one over the head and you either internalize it or have a miserable time while you are there.
So, if y'all are so tough and so combative, why are you unable to deal with the same attitude in response?
I vowed 17 years ago to never come back. I can get lox at my local Superstore these days and I can get broken lots of designer goods at a great price from Overstock.com. there are world class restaurants in Chicago & Minneapolis. I can travel a few hundred miles to see a great show or visit a great museum or gallery. I can drive to these cities and a world class hotel room costs me much less that $450 +tax, w/concierge service included. I prefer the sort of energy I can encounter in 25 other urban areas to the particular brand put out by New Yorkers.
If you are insulted, well, I am sorry, but why don't you get out there and tell your fellow New Yorkers that they are turning America against them? If you are a Republican or a supporter of the POTUS, get out there and put up a *Welcome GOP* or a *Go W* sign on your building, your window, your shirt. Organize a fleet of vans to pick up GOP delegates during the convention. Tell the foreign protesters to go home, in no uncertain terms.
It looks from here like you all are the minority dhimmi conservatives who have to walk in the gutter so the superior Donks can lord it over you on the sidewalks.
As the liberals all say: look at the root causes. NYC defines itself & is making us hate it.
