Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief

August 28, 2004

BY THOMAS LIPSCOMB

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature.

"It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he said.

The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first by Adm. Elmo Zumwalt and then Adm. John Hyland, which themselves differ. The new material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: "By his brave actions, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon himself...."

Asked how the citation could have been executed over his signature without his knowledge, Lehman said: "I have no idea. I can only imagine they were signed by an autopen." The autopen is a device often used in the routine execution of executive documents in government.

Kerry senior adviser Michael Meehan could not be reached for comment on Kerry's records.

Honey, it ain't 1998.
If Clinton ran today, he'd lose. With or without Ross Perot.
In another five years, the entire country will be wired.

Where is Hackworth? (the Kerry Hack) He drove Boorda to suicide with his relentless attacks.

One of Hack's allies was none other than, read it here:

In 1966 John Kerry helped drive the chief of Naval operations to commit suicide after Kerry said it was wrong for Boorda to wear certain medals

"If you wind up being less than what you’re pretending to be, there is a major confrontation with value and self-esteem and your sense of how others view you."
Of Boorda and his apparent violation, Kerry said: "When you are the chief of them all, it has to weigh even more heavily."

My. It appears the Viet Cong's favorite liberal congressman has a fake silver star to go along with his status as "war hero."

Is it possible that as Reagan's SecNav, John Lehman, re-issued the medals & citations that Sen. Kerry allegedly threw away? Inquiring minds want to know!

I hope the media asks for him to release his records, and puts him on record whether he'll do so or not. Answering such serious questions through his underlings is getting old, not to mention the fact that it generates about 10 different versions of events per day.

Maybe a local media guy can put the question to him. The MSM are by and large too corrupt.

My best guess is "Main Stream Media."

You're correct ... MSM is a acronym that has only recently evolved at FR. I've been here since 1998 (where I spent Oct. 31 (Halloween) behind enemy lines on the Mall in Washington, DC at the FR March for Justice rally ... the moment is seared ... seared indelibly in my memory) and the MSM tag wasn't being used then, to my recollection.

Hmmm. It certainly is.

And this tidbit today from the Washington Post, another Kerry lie is revealed:

The Kerry campaign has refused to release Kerry's personal Vietnam archive, including his journals and letters, saying that the senator is contractually bound to grant Brinkley exclusive access to the material. But Brinkley said this week the papers are the property of the senator and in his full control.

Thanks Peach!

The Clintoon did something like this during one of his investigations, and of course at that time the MSM allowed him to get away with it.

Kerry is unraveling.

I bet he had some minion in Lehman's organization, who did it.

But just the fact that Kerry would go to that much trouble to get another citation differently worded, when he already had the original, shows what an opportunist he is, not to mention dishonest.

Actually, it does. The replacement citation should not have been altered at all unless there were an error to be corrected. The flowery prose praining the traitor's exploits is nothing but "padding" - aka bovine excrement.

I am hearing that the Kerry people aren't even answering MSM inquiries about this fabrication.

I'm surprised that the MSM has made inquiries about the issue. They are remarkably uncurious about anything to do with Kerry's military records.

"Yet ANOTHER article in Chicago Suntimes questioning Kerry's record. I think (hope), perhaps, the MSM is begining to catch the scent of blood in the water."

I know nothing of the Suntimes.

Is it a liberal newspaper?

The only conclusion is that Kerry padded the citation and got some Navy underling to get is signed via autopen.

I was talking to someone yesterday who spent 25 years in the Navy. This guy said you could write your own citations and anyone would sign them. How true this is, who knows.
I would only suggest that kerry probably found someone with too much on his desk, no time to check facts and a pen full of ink. john f'n is a fraud!

I would like to think you are right. But with Kerry's backround, he should be nowhere near as close to GWB as he is. One of the old media guys said that their backing was worth 15 points. That's still too much.

Maybe a little padding?

First citation (as per Hyland), final comments:

The extraordinary daring and personal courage of Lieutenant (Junior Grade) KERRY in attacking a numerical superior force in the face of intense fire were responsible for the highly successful mission. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Second (Lehman) citation, final comments:

The extraordinary daring and personal courage of Lieutenant (Junior Grade) KERRY in attacking a numerical superior force in the face of intense fire were responsible for the highly successful mission. By his brave action, bold initiative, and unwaverying devotion to duty, Lieutenant (jg) Kerry reflected great credit upon hiimself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

"The Kerry campaign has refused to release Kerry's personal Vietnam archive, including his journals and letters, saying that the senator is contractually bound to grant Brinkley exclusive access to the material."

And Kerry's personal biographer Brinkley, is now on the payroll of NBC News. "How conveeeeeeeenient."
