Makes sense about Kristin Gore. She should know what's funny since her dad has always been a joke.
SNL's Tina Fe's movie BOMBED..
Just like all SNL movies. Why they keep making these movies out of these stupid skits is beyond me.
She gets a neck rash when she meets a cute guy, seeks out telemarketers for romantic advice, can't Rollerblade worth a damn and obsesses over questions like how she'd get ready for work each morning if, say, a lion ripped off her right arm.
Uggh. A chick-flick in novel form.
Sounds about as thrilling as an Ally McBeal episode.
She was a writer for Futurama? Can't possibly be ...
This tree walks into a bar, see...no wait, I walked into a bar...no wait, I walked into a tree after visiting a bar...no wait, if I was a tree, what kind of tree would I be...
Say goodnight, Tipper!
Has Futurama EVER been funny?
Because they all talk to each other..ergo..
Bet she's glad her Dad invented the English language, the word processor, the printing press, the.....
From David Frums Diary, NOV. 19, 2002: "GORE SPEAKS." The words are by Karenna Gore. She's talking about her conversation with her father during the recounting.
"We have to do what's best for the country, and it is not good for the country to have this kind of divisiveness. And he was on the phone, really calling off the dogs. There were people who wanted to fan the ... the flames of the racial issue and have real unrest. And he was on the phone asking them not to, because of what was best for the country not because of what was best for him politically. And that's really who he is." [end]
Where are the race riots I wondered at the time. The left knows that the media will go after Bush to stop the violence and answer the "will of the people." Let Gore be president, they'll demand.
Will Kerry call 'em off?
I had not known that stuff about her TV comedy writing chops. However, one more chick lit novel in a crowded field had better be distinct. Considering all the D.C. sex scandals periodically roiling the waters it had better be steamy to boot ("washingtonienne, et al). Notice the part about her character chafing at having to work for a dolt of a president (subtle). I would not hold my breath in anticipation of anything particularly refreshing. It's probably just further proof that to get published nowadays you first have to get famous by hook or by crook THEN try to flog your work.
It sure as heck was before she joined the staff.
Generic Chick Book #45,509? (And I mean chick book, not Chick tract. They're totally different.)
Of course Tina Fey's movie bombed. They made it already, fifteen years ago..."Heathers." You can't beat the original.
How does compare to Madonna's books?
Are you kidding me? Far funnier than the Simpsons (which should have been killed off long ago).
If you can , get a look at the Star Trek "Melvar" episode.
Someone had to write all of those "Nixon" jokes.
It's hard to say it bombed. It made something like $80 mill, which isn't a $100M hit, but it ain't terrible. As much as I despise the politics of someone like Franken (and of course I mean to imply Fe is in that category), his title, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right," is hilarious. (Too bad he doesn't have the chops to write a funny book to go with it).
Really...it did that well?... I've always liked the skits she writes on the "Weekend News" segment of SNL..
