There was a good price tag on his head. Maybe they are trying to figure out who to pay? Or this could be akin to a UFO or Elvis sighting?!

Iraq national guard commander denies capture of Saddam deputy

A senior commander in the Iraqi national guard has insisted his officers have not captured Saddam Hussein's deputy, Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri.

Major General Ahmed Khalaf Salman, who is commander for the central region where the capture reportedly took place, says the guardsmen were wrong to announce they had apprehended him or participated in any such operation.

He says Iraqi forces did not take part in any operation and did not capture al-Duri.

Earlier, Iraqi officials said Ibrahim was captured in Tikrit, Saddam's hometown and powerbase north of Baghdad, in which 70 of his supporters were reportedly killed and 80 captured.

I can't find anything about that on Fox News Channel.

Source was AFP, now corrected.

AFP actually got the reaction of us Cheddar Brains right (polite applause).

Hmmm..... well, I've noticed that AP has some problems keeping up with the news on the weekends. So, I'm not going to give that much weight.

I can't find anything about that on Fox News Channel.

I love Fox, but they are really lacking on their hurricane coverage. Last night they had Geraldo blinking in out, and another anchor somewhere else in Florida. The other anchor had better reception, but everytime Geraldo got a two- second signal they went back to him. Why don't they just set these guys up inside somewhere and report the facts. Seeing Geraldo and the other anchor getting pelted with rain, and blown off the screen is more annoying than dramatic. Finally, I switched to MSNBC, and they had better coverage. Fox needs to get their act together on on-the-spot coverage.
