A census report on religion shows that the Muslim population in the country grew at the rate of 36% between 1991 and 2001.

The Hindu rate of growth was 20.3% in the same period. During 1981-91 the figure was 25.1%.

The Muslim growth rate in the previous decade was 34.5%, according to 'The First Report on Religion'.

Census Commissioner J K Banthia released the report, prepared by the office of the registrar general and census commissioner, in New Delhi on Monday.

He presented a copy to Tarlochan Singh, chairman, Minorities Commission.

At 82.7 crore, Hindus constitute 80.5% of India's population of 102.8 crore.

There are 13.8 crore Muslims, comprising 13.4% of the population, the report said.

My own readings (Koran, Sunnah, Al Hadish) suggest that birth control and abortion issues would probably be utterly dominated by the whim of the "husband" of the harem. If he wanted BC or abortion, he'd get it. "Your field is your own to plow as you will," said Mohammed.

I've both read and heard on talk radio that there is a widespread belief amongst Hindus in India that one of the ways Muslims plan to take over is to simply to outbreed everyone else. Ironically enough, I think (and I may be wrong) that on average the Muslim population of India is also the poorest. Here in America, Daniel Pipes mentioned in a column that an astounding 23% of Muslims (immigrants?) collect from a major government program. I daresay that it is difficult for Mustafa to support a wife and ten kids on a convenience store clerk's salary alone, so he avails himself of infidel taxpayer-supplied government freebies.

Ironically, Muslims have no problem feeding off of non-Muslims, but what will happen if and when Muslims become a majority -- who will support them? There won't be enough non-Muslims to leech off of. I was walking through one of the terminals at JFK airport some years ago and saw two (based on their dress) Muslim young women. They didn't have the veil, so you could see their faces. It was my guess that neither could have been older than their early 20's. Between the two of them they had 5 babies.
