Paul Harvey Radio Sub Quoted Kitty Kelly's Charges that "W" Used Cocaine at Camp David
WABC Radio, New York | 9/7/04 | Self

Posted on 09/07/2004 9:11:56 AM PDT by Dr. Scarpetta

Paul Harvey's radio sub, Gil Gross, repeated Kitty Kelly's charges that W used cocaine at Camp David many years ago. This came on at noon on WABC. He didn't say that the only source was an angry ex-wife of the president's brother. Even Newsweek refused to print these charges with only one source.

Gil Gross co-anchored ABC's national radio news coverage of the RNC with Sam Donaldson. He is absolutely in the tank for Kerry. I'd think Harvey would be furious.

I was surprised to hear this on his show, also. The book and its contents will be all over the networks soon enough. She planned this timing perfectly for maximum effect.

Kitty Kelly is a very unsavory character...and she loves the spotlight each time she writes one of these books. She must have a very empty personal life. What man would even want her....she would be hell-on-wheels during a divorce.

The Kitty Kelley charges were reported last night as news on the local ABC news affiliate in Chicago by Ron Majers. The charges are also in the morning newspaper. The lack of truth will not stop the MSM if they can bring the President down.

Folks Our guy has basically admitted to doing "wrong things" in the past. If you believe people can be redeemed and changed I think this should not bother you at all. I believe if Bush had not had such a wild life and been redeemed he wouldn't be president today.

I think that is what makes Bush's down to earth perspective so rich that he doesnt seemed to be curruptable now since he recovered from that lifestyle. He knows WHO helped him recover.
So what Im saying is who cares what Kitty Kelly says bout his past, the key is that behavior is in the past.

I was furious and shocked that someone would defame the president in ONE SENTENCE and then move on to another topic, as though he had stated an absolute fact.

You are correct. It is deperation time. If they were smart, they should have saved this until October, when it could have been used as a dirty trick - like last time. Now it will be talked out and become a non-issue.

Thanks for the post. I wouldn't have heard it otherswise. But really what Paul Harvy does and what Kelley writes really doesn't matter any more.

I think this is probably a good thing. The media are teeing up the Kelley book as the next media/left hit on Bush. Leading with a story so over the top and so unsubstantiated is likely to discredit everything in the book for most swing voters.

The hit is also mistimed, coming with plenty of time for the campaign to react, unlike the DUI hit four years ago.

According to Bush's former sister-in-law, Bush snorted cocaine at Camp David while his father was President (1988-92). W claims to have been substance free for more than 25 years. These are serious allegations.

Serious alegations? They were serious for Clinton since it was apparent he was continuing his drug use while in office as GOV. of Arkansas. Furthermore we have never seen a road to damascas experience in Clintons life.

If you are thinking of legality. THe statue of limitations has expired. If you are saying something about his charicter then if confronted directly I bet he would admit it, and also share with you what a waste his life was before God intersected with it.

Please be specific what you mean about these being serious alegations.

I would think it would be fairly obvious. You have a former sister-in-law claiming that GWB snorted cocaine at Camp David between 1989-1992. This is far more serious than the 1976 DWI.

This is not a legal matter, but rather, a political attack. You can bet the MSM will leap on this one with plenty of encouragement from the Kerry camp. Regardless of whether it is true or not, it will be a major event. Count on it.

"These are serious allegations."

Serious enough that it might be worth suing for defamation of character? The definition is "an intentional false communication that injures another person’s good name or reputation. ... ", and boy does that sound like what's happened here. Just wonder if this is something worth going after or just letting it pass as with all the other lies that have been told.

Even Newsweek refused to print these charges with only one source.

Then perhaps Newsweek can explain why they've mentioned absolutely nothing about Kerry's trip to Paris in which he visited the North Vietnamese delegation prior to the so-called peace talks. There are plenty of sources for that. I want to know what was discussed because methinks the subject had to do with the North Vietnamese stalling over inane items like table shape and size because Kerry told them if they held off long enough, his actions in the U.S. would help cause a pullout of American troops.

There is a reason why the MSM won't touch this and I think we all know what that reason is...

I doubt GWB wants to go that route. It would give even greater attention to it and there would be a she said, he said defense. As a public figure, GWB is fair game. GWB should just say that these allegations are totally false and have been tried again and again by his opponents, who are trying to smear him. Kitty Kelly has done similar things to Reagan and the Briitsh Royal family.

We need to remind everyone we talk to about Kitty Kelley's scurrilous attack on the Reagans. The Reagans are revered throughout America today. This attempt to likewise smear the Bush family will backfire.
