Did CNN drop baloons and confetti in the newsroom?

I'm surprised CNN didn't drop the crystal ball in Times Square to mark the occasion.

Brokaw, jennings and rather may well do a broadcast together while they drink champagne and moan about the quagmire.

This has the makings of a trap.

If republicans argue "!,000 deaths are nothing." Look at the highways, etc.

Then we'll get painted as callous and uncaring. Especially if you add the 7k or so wounded to the cost of this war.

On the other hand, if we say "Oh my gosh, 1000k." Never thought it would cost that many lives. Then we admit miscalculation.

On the third hand, if we say. "We mourne the loss, honor the dead, dedicate ourselves to making sure that their deaths were not in vain." This is much better. But it still leaves open the question "How many more lives will this cost? How many more of our boys will come home but leave some part of them back in Iraq?"

That's not a pleasant question to have to answer. But it's better than either of the first two approaches -- especially since the RATS don't really have any alternative vision of how to win this thing and see it through.

But I don't think we can afford to let Iraq be seen as an unending spiral of more and more American dead.

It is the Soldier,
not the reporter who has given us freedom of press

It is the Soldier,
not the poet who has given us freedom of speech

It is the Soldier,
not the campus organizer who gives us freedom to demonstrate

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

You used the word "touting". I prefer to think of it as "gloating".

Do they have his/her name yet so they can race to the family's house to see how it feels to be the 1000th casuality?

Yeah, they will show up in a van, cameras running to deliver black ballons and black party hats.

If the left succeeds in taking over the country, it is the "fourth estate" that we should go after hold accountable first.

Now the left can pop the champagne and throw their Pol Pot lucks in celebration. I hope they all rot in hell.

How many have died because CNN and its liberal kin throughout the Left the world over have given the terrorists the hope of victory if they just hang on long enough, a la General Giap in Vietnam?

Hey Dog, I hope someone got a screen capture of this. I just went to the CNN front page and it looks like it's already been pulled.
