Put in perspective, that means if the U.S. Treasury had seized all wages and salaries in 2003 with a 100% income tax, there still would have been a deficit! Gibberish.

Yes, it is gibberish.
Pass a law raising retirement age to 75, and voila! All is fine.
Also, I would like to see a comparison of total government debt to assets: government land, etc. Making Uncle Sam hold a debt-reduction sale might not be such a bad thing.

Bush needs to grab the reins of spending. Nixon lost the power to clamp down on spending. Remember: the role of Congress is to authorize spending. If the Executive chooses not exceed, or even come close to the authorization, Congress can pound sand.

The lives of 1000+ soldiers who have died fighting for a democracy in a corrupt desert country and the freebies to illegal aliens is where the costs are that will cause the the collapse of our economy.
Is it worth it?
No, not in my mind. Neither this President nor the next will be able to bring us out of this mess without a lot of grief for too many Americans.
NAFTA was a suicidal move that we signed for the UN to bring worldwide economies highers. The result was to trash ours.
People will have to talk a long time after I'm dead to convince me otherwise.
Communist socialism has never worked before and it won't work now.

Pass a law raising retirement age to 75, and voila! All is fine. I believe the largest unfunded liabilities are Medicare/aid not SS.
Course, I would also throw in a GSE bailout, and a bailout of their counterparties....Course, if that happens we will also need to bailout most small banks, 401Ks, homeowners, etc, etc.
To: untenured
Gibberish. Yeah, I think he's way, way too optimistic.
To: Wolfgang_Blitzkrieg
The federal government has loads of unfunded liabilities, but I don't care because the rapture will hit sometime in the next three years. I will be outa here and the Libruls can deal with the mess. Rapture? Three years? How can you possibly know such a thing.
As an aside let me add Hal Lindsay was prophesying crap years ago that never came to be. You know the test. If a prophet misses the mark he is not from God and there ain't no 'in the flesh' exception.
Let me predict that you will be very disappointed 3 years from now.
