Libertarians: A Party Against America ("But really, what a bunch of sickos.")
The Wall Street Journal Opinion Journal ^ | September 8, 2004 | James Taranto 'Best of the Web'

Posted on 09/08/2004 8:53:21 PM PDT by quidnunc

This Saturday is Sept. 11, the third anniversary of, well, Sept. 11. A political organization holding a meeting that day urges its members to show up "wearing some clothing article colored black to mourn the deaths of the thousands of people who have died as a result of U.S. government policies."

That's right, this outfit thinks the anniversary of an attack on America is an appropriate day for a Blame America First-fest. Ah well, we've come to expect such things from moonbat Muslims and commie peaceniks. There's no point in getting upset.

Only this group of ideological extremists consists neither of Islamists nor commies. It's the Libertarian Party and its "presidential candidate," Michael Badnarik. They are, of course, perfectly entitled to exercise their right to freedom of speech. But really, what a bunch of sickos.

. . . apart from their cruel moral-liberalism, moral-cowardice, ideologically-addled mindset, and their doomed-to-failure humanist schemes.

I find myself using the terminology that I've heard Professor Walter Williams use...

"Jeffersonian Liberal."

That pretty much works for me. The actual Libertarian Party has gone around the bend. For the most part, I agree with many of the tennants, but the party really does look like a bunch of "Whack Jobs."

I share many of the same ideals as Walter Williams and Neal Boortz.

Maybe you should actually look into what libertarianism is.

As I pointed out, the LP isn't a good example if it.

As others have pointed out, the foundation of libertarianism is akin to jello, or a yes-no-maybe bowl of mush.

No, libertarianism is an aspect of conservatism.

The idiots in the LP go fundamentalist and pure with it.

Conservatives consider it in as a useful ideal, but something that in pratice has to be tempered.

I would strongly suggest you actually do a little reading on modern American conservative philsophy and its origins.

Mostly, yes.
But I'd rather repeal the 16th and abolish the Income Tax and the IRS altogether. And I do not agree with disclosure of campaign contributions. This is a privacy issue.
I'd also like to repeal the 17th. And I'd like to go through all of the ABC agencies and abolish those that are not authorized by the Constitution, ie, most of them. I would also like to see the RLC take a pro-life stance. In the very least, to recognize that the Federal Government has no say in the matter whatsoever.
Oh, yeah, and I'd also like to repeal most of the so-called federal crimes. I believe the Constitution leaves crime fighting to the states.
Also, eliminate any chance of double jeopardy thru overlapping federal and state jurisdictions.

For Libertarians who don't follow the blame-America foreign policy plank that Badnarik espouses, I suggest as an alternative Larry Elder, Los Angeles talk show host. We're throwing our vote away anyway, so go for the write-in.

To the best of my knowledge, Larry Elder has now joined the republican party.

Larry Elder has moved from "decline to answer" to the GOP.
