Illiteracy is bad all over the country! My brother's business is in Harford County, Maryland. He had to hire our retired father to stand in his warehouse with a clipboard to make sure the high school grads put the right orders on the trucks for delivery. They couldn't read or write well enough to do their jobs.

where more than half the working-age population can't read a simple form, a report released Wednesday foundWho needs a literate workforce? Reading is not a requirement for those who'll Do The Jobs Americans Won't Do.
After all, they're here to add a few cents to the Bottom Line, no more.

Six months ago, the author of this article wrote something called "Mexico joins hands with LAUSD", which I posted as "Mexico is trying to worm its way into the L.A. Unified School District [my title]" http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1100710/posts
As Mayor Hahn might say, emergency indeed.

That's all right as long as they can watch the idiot box and vote! That's all a citizen needs to be able to do.

Alarmingly, only one in every 10 workers deemed functionally illiterate is enrolled in literacy classes and half of them drop out within three weeks,Because literacy classes is just another freebie welfare program paid by taxpayers that's being handed to them --- they don't want it. They have no need in them, if they never learn English --- so what --- they get their housing subsidies, food stamps, free health care and a whole lot more given in Spanish.
