In addition to forgery, wouldn't it also be fraud? And criminal?

"This kind of document "switching" happens all the time and is considered acceptable in the journalism industry to show the actual text in whatever format you want." What about the signatures?

About time. There is absolutely no way these documents are real.
The title on the top of the page is not preprinted. This never happened as it was cheaper to print it than retype it for each document. Furthermore even if this was a very new title it could have not been typed in a larger font. Too time consuming and almost assuredly impossible with the typewriters back then.
The fonts are proportional now a few typewriters existed that could type proportional but not in that font and even so the military never bought the newest technology for routine documents. They would have used an old electric or even manual typewriter in 1971.
These documents do not even pass the smell test. Can't believe they didn't realize they were fake right off. Course that is assuming that CBS did not fake them itself

Makes me wonder why they got so bent out of shape about Bush showing off a decorative turkey ...

Not necessarily. A couple of blogs and the SBVFT site are
chewing on these docs as well.
In addition to the CNS points, there are questions about
the paper sheet size, zip codes, military abbreviations,
and general grammar/tone.
All of which is causing people to look even harder at
the selected sample of "Navy" docs Kerry has released.
Kerry needs to sign an SF-180 if he wants us to accept
his docs as legit.

Awesome!!! When I saw this, I had hoped Drudge would run it.

The White House acknowledged that the documents released by the Pentagon were real.
These are NOT government documents.

Freepers have posted examples from the IBM executive typewriter. It did exist and did have the superscript "th".
Much more interesting are the signatures and other clues.

That's easy to do. Just have a dirty copy machine glass and run it thru about 15 generations and you have an aged looking document.

LGF? Can you help me out; I've read so many military abbreviations, I'm lost!

I thought I heard that the documents in question were supposedly from Killian's personal files. No?

See the post by Steven W.
here that was typed on MS Word. I did the same and it matches the "1973" memo exactly. BTW, there was no
th key on the 70s era typewriters.

"Even if they're not fake,...so he didn't show up for a physical...gasp" This is a good point. Also, government always uses official, firm sounding terminology even when making routine reports. It's easy for the uneducated to mistake the 'tone' of these reports to be desciplinary in nature, when in fact it's just routine military terms stating the Bush missed his physical and can't fly agian till he takes it. This stuff must have been, (and probably still is), very routine in the Guard.
