Todd Beamer's Phone Call:
Todd Beamer made a call and spoke to a GTE supervisor. In that call, Beamer, 32, an Oracle Inc. executive from Hightstown, N.J, told Lisa Jefferson, that he and others on the plane had decided they would not be a part of the hijackers' plans. Jefferson had informed him about the other hijackings. Beamer made her promise to call his wife and their two boys, David, 3, and Andrew, 1 and let them know he loved them. Beamer's call connected at 9:45 a.m.
“There are three hijackers, armed with knives. One of the men has what appeares to be a bomb tied to his midsection with a red belt. “
"They have moved most of us to the rear and the man with bomb is nearby. The other two are in the cockpit."
Toward the end of his conversation with Jefferson, Beamer said the plane appeared to have changed directions a few times. Beamer became anxious.
"Oh! We're going down!".
[a pause for a few seconds, then in a calmer voice]
"No, we're OK. I think we're turning around."
“Okay, myself and the others have decided to jump on the hijacker wearing the bomb. I know I'm not going to get out of this.”
[ Shouts and commotion are heard over the phone and then Beamer asked her to pray with him. They recited the 23rd Psalm and the Lord's prayer.]
“Promise you will call my family.” [The GTE phone supervisor relayed Todd's actions to his wife as they were happening]
Beamer drops the phone, leaving the line open. The last thing Jefferson heard was Beamer saying:
"God help me. Jesus help me. Are you ready? Let's roll."

It makes me proud to say Beamer was a fellow American. What he and the others did was as heroic as anything in war time. There's no telling how many lives they saved back then and how many lives they saved in the future. By showing the rest of us how to deal with hijackers, they have deterred future hijackings. AQ knows they'll never get away with another 9/11.
My mother is friends with Bonnie Beamer. Todd is a hero. May his life inspire America in the war on terror forever.

Incredible...True American HEROES. It is such a sad fact that the DEMS have forgotten about these HEROES and about 9/11. They should be forced to read this everyday! And we sit around arguing about Kerry's war record...that is pathetic. The WOT must continue.

The best way to thank the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice HAS to be more than hanging over a keyboard. Is there a 9/11 remembrance rally near you this Saturday? Make a sign or carry the colors and BE THERE! It's a small gesture, but it's better than nothing.

They didn't realize it at the time, but those American heroes were the FIRST soldiers to launch a counterattack against Islamic terrorists.

And the supreme beauty is that Todd Beamer could easily have been the man across the aisle or in the checkout line or in the next lane of traffic or next door or your son, your brother, or your father.
Never forget that heroism is as integral a part of human nature as anything is. Sometimes it's easy to forget this when people do such terrible things.

I have great admiration and respect for the bravery of Todd. But, I lost respect for his widow when she and her friend tried to copywright "Lets Roll".
I was unaware of this, but I would suspect this was not out of selfishness or for personal gain, but to help with promotion of the Todd Beamer foundation.

I still don't get what this was about.
Todd will be the inspiration to all of us when we are charged to rise up against the next attempt at an islamofascist attack. His words will give us courage when we are facing our own demise to save others. And we will also remember Jesus, whom Todd called upon at the end, who made the ultimate sacrifice for us to free us from sin and death, forever. Amen.

So, I will just speak for myself. Some of us think and know that we do good work hanging over our keyboards. Just take a look at all the news that broke in the last twenty-four hours, a lot due to the hard work of freepers.
Some of us cannot or do not want to parade around with signs to show our emotions. We would rather just hang here and work.

I wasn't asking only you, but I thank you for answering. This is a very emotional topic, and I didn't mean to imply that hanging on the keyboard is a bad thing. I hoped to inspire folks to put out a message where it can be seen by folks who DON'T hang around the keyboard. If I offended anyone, I apologize. Many Freepers DO "parade around" with signs. These are seen by many who never see FR, some who don't have access to the internet. I guess it's all how you get the message out. There's more than one way. I hope to rally people, not to offend anyone.

The danger is to assume the domestic danger is over, will never happen here again.
I witnessed a drill of local Sheriffs and an unmarked "Delta Force" type of team at a local large mall. Guys were holding MP-5s, M4s and Big Macs at the McD's...
There needs to be a monument, preferably a statue of Mr Beamer himself in Washington DC. This needs to be done in order to memorialize not just him, but all of those who fought against the Terrorists on flight 93.
In this, our next war for Independance, we need to memorialize our heroes who died fighting the good fight on the first day of battle.
and yes, this is another war of Independance.
It is sad that it has to be this way.
