NONE of the celebs who promised they would leave the country if George W. Bush won four years ago actually kept their word. But we'll keep track again for the next few weeks to see who will make the same vow. So far, we have Brooklyn author Paul Auster, whose novels include "Leviathan" and "City of Glass," and his wife, poet/essayist Siri Hustvedt. Auster was vague as he told the London Observer, "I don't know what I'll do for the next four years if Bush wins." His wife was more specific. The Observer's Robert McCrum reported that Hustvedt "says she will emigrate to Norway if Bush wins."

Sure sign of a selfish partisan. He would want to stay here to keep working to improve our lot if he cared about anything but himself.

"says she will emigrate to Norway if Bush wins." How appropriate she would go to the country that gave us the term "Quisling."

That does it...
Starting now we need to get enforcable, signed agreements from these characters before they are permitted to get this claptrap into print.
Can McCain-Feingold be ammended to require this...?
To: presidio9
Why wait? Can't they leave now. And can they take their "Pauline Kael" friends with them?

The problem with these damn celebrities is you cannot depend on them to follow through with their 'threats'.

To: presidio9
Okay, I'm tired of this. If they aren't going to honor their word, than it is up to us to ensure they do.
If they do not leave on Nov.3 I think we should all show up at their house with empty suitcases and a taxi to escort them to the airport.
It isn't fair to tease us with the possibility they will get out of our country, than not follow through.

This kind of thing will probably fall under the new definition of "patriotism".... giving up on your country and leaving it altogether, just because it's run for a limited period by a guy you don't like.

There is this really neat U-HAUL store down the road that rents trailers and sells tape and big packing boxes. I can get the number for them if they need it.

Have never heard of any of them so don't suspect I will miss them after they are gone.
Would be willing to donate a few hours helping them pack in advance because George W. Bush (Better known a President George W. Bush) will be reelected. The time for them to begin packing is NOW!
