The AWB will expire 1 second after 11:59:59 PM EST on 9/12 (i.e. on Monday the buying begins).

It would have to wait a week or so. The AWB prohibits the manufacture of "pre-ban"-style firearms and high-capacity magazines, except for law-enforcement use.

While I'm sure the magazine makers have made a whole bunch of parts in anticipation of the ban ending, they cannot legally assemble and ship them to retailers until after AWB expiration.

The real statistic:

80% of urban housewives whom we called at home between 2 and 3 in the afternoon and asked "DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN BLOWN TO SHREDS WITH A MACHINEGUN???", answered "NO!!!. (The rest hung up on us.)
