Man named in Bush memo left Guard before document was written

AUSTIN, Texas - (KRT) - The man named in a disputed memo as exerting pressure to "sugar coat" President Bush's military record left the Texas Air National Guard a year and a half before the memo was supposedly written, his own service record shows.
An order obtained by The Dallas Morning News shows that Col. Walter "Buck" Staudt was honorably discharged on March 1, 1972. CBS News reported this week that a memo in which Staudt was described as interfering with officers' negative evaluations of Bush's service, was dated Aug. 18, 1973.
That added to mounting questions about the authenticity of documents that seem to suggest Bush sought special favors and did not fulfill his service.
Staudt, who lives in New Braunfels, Texas, did not return calls seeking comment. His discharge paper was among a packet of documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News from official sources during 1999 research into Bush's Guard record.

This would be a basic fact to be researched for authenticity. This is either complete incompetence or complete dishonesty. There is no getting around this.
Answer: The source is so blatantly biased and so far from credible that the stonewalling is better than the truth.
This tactic has worked before.
Don't forget that in the past CBS and other MSM have survived being caught running with forged and flawed sources, and they KEPT THIER JOBS.
What is different this time? Perhaps the Bloggers and the stakes involved.
But only perhaps.
Or they used a handwriting expert to look at machine made documents.
How did you do the magnifying box?
Oh poor sheltered bannie. You may show your unfreepness by questioning hugh, series, beeber, ...etc.
I agree........all the "hit pieces" 60 Minutes produced to defeat George, Sr. , especially the one, one week before the election featuring paranoid Ross Perot. Oh, and the most egregious was "The Confessional Hour" where William the Conqueror admits his affair with Jennifer Flowers while Hillary stands by her man........yes, it is sweet!!
Welcome to FR, and don't worry, I still don't get all of the jargon around here.
But then again, I'm not the brightest crayon in the box.
I wonder if TerAYsa's billions are behind this?
How come, I keep hearing on the Fox News, the MSNBC news, that if the docs are proved to be forgeries, that "this may be the end of the Democrat National Party" ????
One would have to think that now for sure. Maybe some eager soul out there will start looking into this. The language in the CYA memo was strange to begin with. I posted this a couple times on threads and nobody jumped on it. Fox just had Bill Compani(sp) on and he just confirmed my suspicions.
I pasted the relevant portion of the MS Word version over the CBS version and used the Outer Glow layer effect to outline it.
The dums will always get 36% of the vote. Although diverse, they share a common disdain for God, morality, and decency. This is actually a good thing, cuz we can always beat 36%.
Very cool effect.
AWESOME! Thanks for posting this...
Well, why then he's have to hang himself...
There's no doubt in my little mind that CBS knew FOR A FACT these were forgeries, and ran them anyway.
It just doesn't get much better than this.
That's because we have 20/20 hindsight!
This is the best weapon to use against CBS, because it's an indisputable fact.
Dan Rather's the "Big Bug," alright.
But the producer, Mary Mopes, is vulnerable.
...start with her.
