We've had a lot of new folks join up recently. Welcome aboard, this thread is a gentle reminder of some basic posting guidelines. (And for some of you old timers as well) Please read the follow, and ask any questions. We will all try to help you out.
SEARCH
If it's a breaking news topic, check breaking news first, it's probably already posted.
To avoid duplicate posts, please search before posting. Use the published article title to prevent duplicates. The best method to search is to pick a key word or two from the title. If the article you are posting is, "Dan Rather Memo", start with 'Memo' for the key word. If it is a hot topic, you might want to use two or more keywords, in this case, try 'memo rather'. For an effective search, select 'match all words' and select 'order by post time'.
All non-sourced non-news threads are posted here. This doesnt mean your one thought is a thread by itself. Lately, we have been seeing articles posted that should be comments made on the main article. Your comment/vanity article will be pulled or moved to General Interest (Chat). Vanities should be limited to the mission of Free Republic.
For all of you who have blogs or personal web sites or personal news or opinion or forum sites that you would like to discuss or promote on Free Republic, here's the place to do it.
Our new Bloggers & Personal forum is for:
- Posting from your blog.
- Posting from other peoples blogs.
- Posting your from your personal web site.
- Posting from other peoples personal web sites.
- Promoting your blog.
- Promoting other peoples blogs.
- Promoting your personal web site.
- Promoting your favorite web sites.
- Posting from your favorite outside forums.
- Posting from your favorite lefty forums or sites (DUh and the like).
Click on the "Bloggers & Personal" forum link on the Forums sidebar of the latest posts pages.
Hopefully, this will become a very popular forum for promoting and or discussing blogs and personal opinion/news/forum pages.

All Im saying is you should have a zero tolerance rule, until then, you're going to keep saying the same thing and telling people to stop posting vanities month after month
Again, a lot depends upon the content. So when you start to make "differences" in vanities then you have already given up on policing them all together. What may seem important or relevant in YOUR mind or others may not seem the same in others minds and therefore that creates the double standard.

This in a nutshell is the biggest long-term consequence of this forgery, bigger even than the consequences for this election.
A lot of us have known this for quite some time, of course, but this will now become the general perception (and rightly so).
Daaaammmnnnn ... a smokin' hot blonde with a 9mm strapped to her hip. I'm in loooovvveeee.
Bless you!! I am so glad to see that I was not the only one getting pissed off with the duplicate threads, the vanities and the general abuse of posting guideliness and netiquette in general.
Now, can we have just one Hurricane (Hurricane nane here) thread, one Kerry is going down thread and one forged documents thread? Don't people understand the purpose of focused discussion?
It is good to see that you are whipping people into shape now. The next several weeks are going to be brutal on you Mods. Thanks in advance for your work.
Thank you. The duplicates have been driving me crazy lately. And the poster always says they searched before posting -- even when it's plainly the next article below theirs in Breaking News.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!
Not to mention the fact
that the millions of people
who use Microsoft Word
all know what an uppercase th looks like
understand the issue
perfectly well
and realize
CBS has been treating them as morons.
Thanks for this restatement of posting and such.
Also, a Heads Up for the Nascar race later today,, I'll be bumping it to Breaking News about 3 pm PT as Rummy will be on deck for a 9/11 tribute scheduled for the 4pm PT time window..
That should give folks lots of time to see what is already there and maybe save you' all a little work.
If you want to move it to frontpage after wards, once the race starts ,, that would be A OK. Thanks from the FR Pit CRew!
I have already freepmailed this to the AM queue and Jim a yesterday an hadn't received a No Go so.. :-)
Hope no one else goes hog wild and starts posting a bunch of threads abut Rummy being there , but I know there will be some others posted anyway. ;-)
I have another title ready to roll that I may ask to have inserted and then have it changed it back after the tribute.
By the way, nice piece you're packing in that shot earlier. ;-) Uff and Daaaa !!!
sorry
I meant superscript th
of course.
Le roi est mort. Good-bye and good-riddance.
that way maybe we all would not have to wade through all that zot stuff.
Seriesly, JohnRob needs to set something up so this gets posted about once a quarter.
Even Free Republic veterans sometimes make honest mistakes, too.
Depending on your browser you should be able to save as a text file.
Great post... but I must of missed the part where you warn the newbies about Laz. :)
