We need a little perspective here and a lot of modesty. In fact, I resent the implication that I would want to match wits and facts with the mainstream media.
I would have to get a lobotomy and be drugged to make it a fair fight. I don't steal candy from babies, either.

For so long the main stream media held an advantage, (an unfair advantage) over all broadcasting and abused their position of prominence in American life. It is with a real sense of betrayal that a lot of Americans turned from the MSM contrived view of events and ideas, wanton disregard for the terms of fair play and from their basic lack of respect for American citizens and voters everywhere. The loss to them is, I think, irreversible. No one can EVER accept their word for anything. It's like the old saying,..."If a cat sits on a hot stove and gets burned, he will never sit another hot stove again...or a cold one either." It's the NET for NEWS from here on!!!! TV news is passe! (actually, TV is passe!)

I'll join the chorus of "Great Rant"!

Golly, just a couple of weeks ago, some Lib quote (I think it was copied over from DU) described FReepers as "Young, sad and self-loathing"...we had a lot of fun with that on the thread.

Now we are all pajama-wearing middle-aged men?

I'm more of a nightgown, terry robe and fluffy slippers girl, myself. :-)

Keep up the great work, FR!

Nice!

About 150 years ago, the Snakeoil Salesmen could make a living off ignorance. History nailed them, and now it is time for the laimstream press.

BTW, Freepers who type in their PJ's do so because they can afford to.

Right on, and thank you (and for your service, too).

I suppose I am the left-wing Media's worst nightmare. Directly behind me is a large gun collection. To my left (when I'm at home, now I'm at a remote location), is an antique bookcase full of "right-wing" books (everything from Oakeshott and Tocqueville to Milton Friedman and P.J. O'Rourke); and in front of me is a computer monitor tuned to Free Republic.

A toast to Free Republic and the New Media!! Lift your Glasses!!

Yep!! Yep!!

I used to be pessimistic about the future of our country, but I'm starting to become an optimist. No lie escapes the attention of the "wired". We are performing the job that the "Media" used to do 200 years ago.

I am an 82 yr old WW2 vet and get my "real" info and "facts" from Free Republic---I gave up on the media many years ago but continued to watch and read so I would know "what my enemies were up to"---even some of us computer illiterates are smart enough to know the truths when we see them---all I need to know is how to get on the 'net' and pull up my 'favorites' list---thanks for everything and everybody who works so hard to protect our Nation---God Bless America and God Bless our troops-

But now there are hundreds of independent decision makers judging stories...This, BTW, is also, basically, why capitalism is a superior economic system to socialism.

You're exactly right. Fred Hayek would love this.

An "In Your Face" BUMP to the media lurkers out there.

We know you're reading FreeRepublic now, though it's not to discover any truths but to dig for dirt and come up with new ad hominem attacks disguised as "journalism".

P.S. FreeRepublic is not a BLOG site. It's a Conservative Forum. Why can't you get your FACTS straight?

That was WONDERFUL!!! I didn't get to read it until I did a google search on Free Republic. This is a powerful site, and we are the base of the American public. I hope more people join.

Everyone is funny too. That is why I like it here. Truth telling, joke telling, and facts get passed on.

The "mainstream media" isn't so mainstream anymore, and that is the TRUTH!

God Bless!

Just came across this missive.

I AM IMPRESSED (damn. . .did I just say that?)

Well done, and was this tome ever published anywhere?

Perhaps, like Drudge did with his warning shot in front of the Press Club, maybe you should consider doing something of the same, a public reading of this timeless Jewel.

Just me talking.

Cheers

Good rant.

MSM is increasingly irrevelant and generally losing market share. Their day is done. They are like a chicken with its head removed, still flopping, not realizing that death has arrived.
