Good rant. And we have physicians here too.

Don't forget about all of the "soccer Mom's" like me who have nothing better to do (while the kids are in school) than to sit around and keep an eye on all the Dan Blathers of the world. : )

No forgiveness needed. I always enjoy your rants.

We don't have to hire experts, if we don't know something, we can ask a fellow FReeper or use Google, much faster than you can pay someone to tell you what you want to hear.

Pukin Dog '08. We need to start on the bumper stickers right away. ;o)

An observation I've shared before, but IMHO, what sets FR apart is the real-time, interactive nature of news dissection that takes place here. I truly feel that this is the future of news reporting and analysis.

To explain a bit.....

Someone posts a thread from AP, UPI, Reuters, wherever....and immediately, you get feedback/analysis from a housewife in Des Moines, an engineer in Boston, a lawyer in Chicago, a hunting guide in Alaska, a former military pilot in Raleigh, a GI in Iraq, a professor in California, a programmer in Dallas; you get the idea. Almost instantly. What the retired general may miss in the story, a sharp-eyed interior designer in Atlanta catches. What some "expert" feeds the news outlet, our own collection of experts rips apart and reassembles.

It never ceases to amaze me the collection of talent on FR. I've been on this site for six years, and have yet to see a topic here that has stumped our rather amazing set of brainpower scattered about the globe. By the way, the international nature of this site is often overlooked; we have regulars and visitors from literally every corner of the planet.

It's this real-time, highly interactive analysis that truly sets us apart and scares the hell out of the MSM, I believe. They can't stand up to such close scrutiny, for their biases and inaccuracies are suddenly illuminated under numerous, very bright spotlights by sites like this.

....and there isn't a damned thing they can do about it.

That was awesome! What you say is 100 percent on the money. I rarely watch the news on tv. When I do, it's my local Fox affiliate.

We need a little perspective here and a lot of modesty. In fact, I resent the implication that I would want to match wits and facts with the mainstream media.
I would have to get a lobotomy and be drugged to make it a fair fight. I don't steal candy from babies, either.

For so long the main stream media held an advantage, (an unfair advantage) over all broadcasting and abused their position of prominence in American life. It is with a real sense of betrayal that a lot of Americans turned from the MSM contrived view of events and ideas, wanton disregard for the terms of fair play and from their basic lack of respect for American citizens and voters everywhere. The loss to them is, I think, irreversible. No one can EVER accept their word for anything. It's like the old saying,..."If a cat sits on a hot stove and gets burned, he will never sit another hot stove again...or a cold one either." It's the NET for NEWS from here on!!!! TV news is passe! (actually, TV is passe!)

Nice!

About 150 years ago, the Snakeoil Salesmen could make a living off ignorance. History nailed them, and now it is time for the laimstream press.

BTW, Freepers who type in their PJ's do so because they can afford to.
