Kennedy is Confident Kerry Will Right His Ship
The New York Times ^ | September 14, 2004 | CARL HULSE

Senator Edward M. Kennedy says he is not too worked up about the shape of the presidential race right now despite the fact that his junior colleague from Massachusetts is trailing in the polls.

Meeting with reporters this morning, Mr. Kennedy, an ally of Senator John Kerry, exhibited his long memory about political events. He recalled that the polls were swinging wildly in the 1968 race between Richard M. Nixon and Hubert H. Humphrey and that Mr. Humphrey gained 10 points in a matter of days as the race went into the final stretch, though he ultimately lost a close decision.

"I think it is just a question of time," Mr. Kennedy said about the prospects of Mr. Kerry righting his ship.

And he did what he could to try to help, reiterating his new line of attack that the Bush administration is guilty of "incompetence" when it comes to Iraq as well as its handling of the economy and health care costs. The senior senator from Massachusetts also referred to criticism of the military strategy in Iraq from outgoing Lt. Gen. James T. Conway, a senior Marine commander, reported this week by The Washington Post.

"This is the beginning of the military leadership questioning the political leadership," Mr. Kennedy said.

Is that a Swiftboat, or a 1969 Oldsmobile U-Boat?

Kerry's vessel is a boat, not a ship. A Hinkley 42 to be precise. Base price is around $700K. Then you add the
options. And fuel. Lots of fuel. It doesn't run on a $7K bicycle.

It's been in hiding this boating season, for some reason.

Oh, it's called the Scaramouche, out of Nantucket.

"right the ship"

Somebody needs to tell "The Swimmer" to stay away from the water-based anologies. They only harken back to a wetter time.

A better title would be "Kennedy proposes a toast!"

Next Kennedy will be saying, "I actually saved Mary Jo Kopechne, before I let her drown".

I think re-floating is a more apt comparison. It's sinking fast.

The RUNT of the litter leaves Mary Jo, swims a channel, is hidden by his cronies/family long enough for alcohol to leave his system, then appears on the pity-pot claiming shock and amnesia.
What a Hero!
Anyone remember the plane crash? Only 2 died on that occasion!
There is no bottom to the hole of Teddy's nerve!
And he calls our President a LIAR!

"Come on down to the Ted Kennedy Driving School!
We'll show you how to make a real splash!"

What does Teddy Kennedy have that Bill Clinton wishes *he* did?
A: A dead girlfriend.

A congressional committee has passed the first version of the Bush Health Plan, including a special prevision for pathological sexual addiction. The bill is sponsored by Senator Ted Kennedy, and it encourages mental and physical well being through extensive cardio-vascular exercise -- without pants.

Well, since the SS Kerry is radpily on its way to becoming an untersee boot - maybe they'll need an experienced U-boat captain like Chappaquidick Fats.
