Good grief. Talk about self-indulgence. I had to turn it off.

My all-time favorite tagline EVER! I love it!

Re: Your Post 43
Those chickens are most likely stoked about all of this. Chicken 1- " Dude, did ya hear...Martha is heading up the river" Chicken 2- "Thank Goodness, that b*tch really freaks me out"
Laughed my butt off!

If your friend is a broker giving you general advice, that's okay, but that's not what Stewart was popped for.
If your friend is giving you INSIDE stock information, you'd best hope that no enterprising FReeper ferrets out your real name and address. You will go down, and I will applaud, because inside trading is wrong and illegal.

don't think I'm gonna lose sleep. Besides not knowing an "insider" except of course, our old friend E.F., I wouldn't be a big enuff fish. No headlines.

If your friend is giving you INSIDE stock information, it doesn't matter who you know or not. You will be busted if caught.

Oh great, all Martha haters are in full gloat today. I want to know why Martha goes to jail and I'll be my life's savings Sandy Berger won't even see the inside of a courtroom. What Martha did and said today was classy and I wish her a speedy five months and I hope this experience will make her a better person. (and I'm not saying she was a bad person before.)

Mine too, despite what certain of the comma-obsessed may think.

I wish I'd seen the post from whence the tagline originated. I came too late to the party for that, and I am deeply saddened. Enervated, even.

And if you guys haven't bought her deep-pocket fitted sheets, you just don't know what you're missing. Martha's sheets are a criminally low thread count. If you can't find burlap sheets just go to K-Mart and pick up some Martha Stewart sheets and you will know what you are missing.

She's going to jail because she lied. The appx. $40k she earned is meaningless and chickenfeed, chump-change anyway.
Clinton lied to the Nation and is guilty of dereliction of duty at the highest level and walked.
OJ killed two people and he walked.
Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens - walked.
Scott Peterson will walk.
I strongly believe in upholding the law...however, Martha going to prison doesn't really rate very highly on my scale of "justice".

I LOVE this periodic Martha debate....such fun....and all in good humor, I hope. But you're fulla beans on the sheets, girl. Even rookie sheet shoppers know the thread count on Martha's sheets depend on which line of her sheets you buy. (Even her flannel sheets are superior to LLBean's)

Martha is going to jail for lying about something she did...accepting stock tips from a friend....and that's something my husband and I do all the time.
And the chickens say " It's a good thing".
To: COUNTrecount
GOOD!
Now she knows that laws that apply to the "little" people also apply to the arrogant and unrepentant big people.
She'll have to postpone those "good works" till after her punishment for lying.

oh I forgot...I loved Martha mentioning how much she is going to miss her pets, even her chickens, which lay the most beautiful brown eggs for her yummy, yummy cakes.
(are you laughing yet)
My Mother had pet chickens! She rescued them from those who managed to escape the Chicken processing plant, where my brother worked. She had one named Martha, (I don't make things up), this was over 30 years ago) and we ate Martha's eggs with relish. Martha was really really dumb, and didn't know how to get on her roost at night. Well, every evening, my Mother would go out in the back yard and call "Martha, Martha", and Martha would come running. Mother would pick Martha up, and put her on her roost, and each morning Mother would go out and open Martha's door, and she would "fly" down to start her new day.
so....besides the sheets, me and "Martha" got a history!

Agreed, she is one fine capitalist, but she is also, one raging liberal.
However, I do think she could do a single-handed reform of the prison system, and if they don't find some constructive uses for her talents while she's locked up, they're missing out. She's a powerhouse.
