I would read the book by Tom Clancy and Fred Franks before compairing the two. Schwartzkopf was not on the scene and Franks was.

This is not an attempt to flame you. I just enjoyed reading the book. Check it out(from the library)

The title should read:

SS Officer blasts British over Arnhem battle

Prince Berhhard was fighter pilot and Officer in Reiter SS (part of Waffen SS)

It is even more sad, that SS officer told the truth and “allies” not.

It was typical behavior for British military officials, blaming someone else for defeats, and taking the glory for someone else success.

It is a class thing. Poles come long after the lower ranking Britons.

Unfortunately for too many soldiers, of many nations, Montgomery wasn't half the general he thought himself to be.

Even now so hard is say that those Poles did something important,

The Poles were responsible for saving over 2000 British paratroopers from death or capture.

The treatment of the Polish and other allied pilots during the early stages of the Battle of Britan is another fine example. Of course, they didn't treat the commonwealth troops much better.

Whatever Monty's real failures, Bernhard is not the guy we should allow to hide behind them.
