Alleged CBS Source May Carry Old Grudge Against Bush

"...Newsweek's report this week noted that CBS News sent producer Mary Mapes to Texas to interview Burkett, who lives in Baird, about 25 miles from Abilene. CBS News has refused to reveal the source of the four pages of documents. Burkett didn't respond to a call or e-mail message from CNSNews.com on Monday..."

Maybe.....!

What a coincidence. Bill Burkett lives near Abilene. Surely he's not the "unimpeachable source".

If a fax from Kinko's doesn't satisfy those who doubt the authenticity, what will?

Take a photograph of the handful of people who might have been there and interview the Kinkos staff on duty. We will know who this is in the next 24-48 hours, I bet.

Can Kinko's choose to deny a request for who faxed the documents?
Smells like we have Bill Burkett, Rather's Daughter and Mary Mapes in a neat triangle.
Wash Post has basically thumbed their nose at CBS's non-reporting tonight.

You put "rumor" in as a keyword. When I first saw it I read "humor". That seemed plausible for a story that reads "... forged documents from a Kinko's outlet in Abilene, Texas." You really can't make this stuff up.
