CBS says papers may be forged

Rather concluded: "We shall continue to aggressively investigate the story of President Bush's service in the National Guard, and the story of the documents and memos in Col. Killian's file. Are those documents authentic, as experts consulted by CBS News continue to maintain? Or were they forgeries or recreations, as Marion Carr Knox and many others believe? We will keep an open mind."

Keep an open mind? Gimme a break. The only reason Rather put Knox on the air was because she hates Bush!

"I think they need to be straightforward and say that if the document is a fraud, then it is a fraud," Alex Jones, head of Harvard's Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy, said in a phone interview. "If I were in their shoes and it were a fraud, I'd also want to know whether their source knew it was a fraud, and if he did, I would then not feel any obligation to protect him in the least."
