Dan Rather says that the "vicious assault" on his attempt to mislead the American people come from "powerful, well-financed interests." Naturally, FReepers were quick to denounce his rantings as hysterical lies. But he is quite correct. The attacks on him do come from poerful, well-financed interests. And those interests are Real Americans.
Let's talk about America. And I do mean to say America, not the "United States" which are the government of America. (And do please note the use of the word "are." It is deliberate and correct.)
It is America which Dan Rather inadvertantly correctly calls the well-financed machine working against him. I don't make much money by American standards, but I am quite well-financed by global standards. And I am part of a union that is hundreds of millions of Americans strong. We are not paid specifically to attack Dan Rather's lies, but we are made wealthy by America. Not by the government of the United States, but by America. By the freedom which America grants us, and by the wealth which flows from that freedom.
As part of my "pay," I find it my duty to oppose the gross distortions of men like Dan Rather, who (yes, I will say it) are so un-American that they cannot even tolerate the name of our country, America, and who are so collectivist they refer to what the United States "is," rather than what they "are."
We're well financed? Does that mean FR no longer needs donations?
That division of our corporation does need its budget provided by the various branches of the corporation.
Next we will see this as one of skerry's reasons to raise our TAXES BIG TIME. and MAMA will be able to give more money to her storm trooper( and I don't mean hurricane). Let the kids go naked.
The laugh is that a shoe-string organization that begs for its sustenance each quarter (FR) is considered well-financed simply because it is conservative.
I could so easily turn this into a civil war thread. Does FR still have civil war threads?
Since NATIONAL PURILE RADIO, oh, excuse me, National Public Radio is financed by YOUR tax dollars, they're the real "well financed sources" here. They're in kerry's pocket.
I'll bet that communist front organization gets $million$, too.

Amen and bravo to you! This is the same reason I like to say “U.S. of A.” instead of always the acronym “USA.” It seems to better emphasize the independent units that comprise our federal Republic.
