My first exposure to this (no pun intended). Did the oaf in the backwards cap really rip a sign out of the hands of the little girl? Is that what union thugs have come to? Beating up children? We really need to have the FReepers do some researching and find out who this "big man" is, and publish the information.

Yes but the DU and our collective efforts have made that the most viewed pic on yahoo.com by a 5:1 margin.

The Dems fail even when they succeed.

BLOGGED

http://johnkerryquestionfairy.blogspot.com/

"Just how desperately does a man need to be b*tch-slapped when he stoops to tear up the sign of a child? Just how desperately do the people in the background need to taught a lesson in "pick on someone your own size, moron" language when they mock and taunt a crying three-year-old?

Just how freakin' desperately does someone need to open a Texas-sized can of Whoop-*ss on these Kerry supporters?

They need it as desperately as John Kerry need votes. They need it as desperately as this country needs to wake up and see that THESE mofo's are the people John Kerry calls "the salt of the earth" They need to be pummeled and schooled in the ways of civilazation as desperately as their mama needs to beat them for being the best excuse for birth control God ever made.

They need to be taught a lesson desperately, my friends, desperately. I propose we teach them that if they want to act like Bruce Dern from "The Cowboys", we will act like John Wayne and kick their *ss.

If this is what Kerry calls "support", then Kerry is an atrocity-committing, civilian-shooting, village-burning babykiller.

I rest my case. "

Yup - these two pictures (the first one the boy is still looking ahead, the second one he has turned and prepared to defend his sisters honor) will have plenty of hits now.

The little girl should count herself lucky that Kerry wasn't ther, she'd probably been shot in the back.

What I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to hear is AP & Yahoo's explanation for *why* they switched photos. The original one, with the union T-shirts clearly visible, the thug with the piece of ripped-up sign in his hands, the screaming black woman in the background, and the younger brother wanting to do something about it all .... is a far more dramatic, damning and hence news-worthy photo.

I guess it was just too damning for AP to leave up there.

Again, the internet will stop them from changing history. I love it!

We may have been Rathered. Check out what they are saying about this incident over at the anti-war Rising Hegemon

According to this blog, this Phil Parlock has done this sort of thing several times before, and has been assaulted in the past, so he can't really claim to be surprised at the crowd reaction. But, most devestatingly, the goon with the reversed baseball cap bears a striking resemblance to his own son.

This may be a set-up from the git-go!

Today's Washington Times proves that it wasn't the son who did it, just a Kerry union thug.

Here's the full reference:
'Ridiculous' rumors

When 3-year-old Sophia Parlock's crying face became nationally famous Thursday, some Democrats charged that it was part of a hoax.

Photographs of a West Virginia campaign rally showed a man holding pieces of the crying girl's Bush-Cheney sign, after her father said Democrats had torn the sign apart. The man was wearing a T-shirt identifying himself as a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT).

But on DemocraticUnderground.com and other Internet sites, some Democrats said that the man in the photo was actually the girl's older brother.

"Ridiculous," Sophia's father, Phil Parlock, said of the hoax rumors. Huntington, W.Va., photographer Randy Snyder — who took the photos on assignment from Associated Press — also said the man in the IUPAT shirt was not Mr. Parlock's son.

"The guy was cussing [Mr. Parlock]. ... I thought they were going to come to blows," said Mr. Snyder, who said he was familiar with the Parlock family from years of covering political events in the Huntington area.

State lawmaker Kelli Sobonya, a Republican from the same town as the Parlocks, who says she has known the family for years, said the man in the union shirt is "definitely not" Mr. Parlock's son.

On Friday, IUPAT's president, James A. Wilson, issued this statement: "What happened in Huntington, W.Va., yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them." IUPAT spokesman Gavin McDonald says the union will conduct a "step-by-step, thorough" investigation of the incident.

Another fact that roused Democrats' suspicion of Mr. Parlock was news reports that he had been roughed up under similar conditions at Democratic campaign events in 1996 and 2000.

"There is a consistency, in that I'm quiet, I have signs, I raise my signs, I get pummeled," Mr. Parlock told the Charleston (W.Va.) Gazette-Mail.

Still, I will be more comfortable when they produce the thug in question. If it really is such a small town, somebody's gotta know who this guy is...

Unless the union thug was imported for purposes just like this, of course.
