Three-year-old Sophia Parlock cries while seated on the shoulders of her father, Phil Parlock, after having their Bush-Cheney sign torn up by Kerry-Edwards supporters on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va. Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) made a brief stop at the airport as he concluded his two-day bus tour to locations in West Virginia and Ohio. I don't think it would be smart for the father to let go of that little girl around democrats to take care of the jerks --- anyhow it was a good lesson for the child --- she's finding out at a good age what democrats are all about.
straight from DU...
"Kids cry when they get punished, right? Well, what's the difference here - she got punished for being a proto-fascist! It takes a village to raise a child - especially when the dad's obviously not doing his job."
sadly, this seems to be the prevailing sentiment over there...unbelievable.
Not all union members are scum, the vast majority of union people I know, even the Democrats, would not condone this guy's rotten behavior toward the girl. From my experience, the political true believers and visible activists are in a minority. I was in a union for 16 years and the people I knew laughed at the national propaganda and went ahead and voted for Republicans. But the vocal and visble element tends to make us all look like far-left class strugglers from the '30s.
At times like this, I thank God I live in Texas. Justice would be served quickly with a few words and a broken nose if needed..
Which, might I add, would be served out to a radical Bush supporter he behaved like that in front of a kerry supporter's kid.
That's how my wife would handle it anyway. Don't get me started on what I would do if I had to step in.. ;)
Exactly. Their ability to use violence against us with impunity says two things: One, this is how they use power when they have it. Two, there is still not a genuine right in this country. A fledgling right, perhaps -- as represented by FReep in particular. But not a serious right. Perhaps we'll have one before this election is over. Here's hoping.
But the evidence for it is thin.
I gotta question Dad's judgement regarding allowing a three-year-old to display such a sign a 'rat' rally in the first place; let alone bringing her to such an event! However, had it been me, I'd have ripped-off the malefactor's head and sh*t down his neck!
I do not know how to get the picture on this site (no place to put it, but there is a thread on fark.com talking about Rumsfeld giving Aljeezera crap about being in cahoots with the terrorists and about 3/4 the way down that thread there is a picture of the father punching the guy on his right.... Too cool.
Oops. Looks like a Dan Rather photo. It was posted at 2004-09-17 12:22:59 AM chairborne
post number 1095 is little girl's big brother!
No, but if asked he'll say the photo is "real but inaccurate."
In this case, discretion is the better part of valor.
The picture you saw was someone playing with PhotoShop.
It's unthinkable that a group of adults would attack a kid, but it's unthinkable that an adult would tear a sign away from a 3-year old kid and smirk at the crying child in the first place. Even if the rest of those people didn't attack the kid, she would probably would have been injured in the 10 to 1 assault on the dad that would likely follow his starting to fight the dude with the smirk.
Take heart Sophia "HELP IS ON THE WAY!"
What is most appalling is the look of contempt and pleasure on the faces of the Dems around her. Even the little kid in the corner looks like he is prepared to hit her. It shows, in microcosm, the lack of any sense of decency in these people. How can anyone with any feelings get pleasure over a child crying?
She's a martyr. For her tears she has probably earned Bush 10,000 votes.
If they tried it with Ann or Laura Ingraham, maybe Laura Bush, they might be still have gotten in their vandalism kicks. But they'd be going home without at least one of the arms they came with.
From my tagline to that DUmmie's eyes.............
Union thugs in action.
$crew every union thug in America.
KOMRADE KERRY'S KERRORISTS, aka, Union thugs attack a 5 year old girl.
pssst: over here - poster says it's his dad & sister! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1218271/posts?page=1095#1095
OMG!! That union thug goon ripper is STILL staring and TAUNTING the 3 yr. old little girl!!!!! It's DISGUSTING!! I want his NAME!! So should everyone who lives in that area!!
You need to send this picture to all your union friends.
Typical union thugs....I am sure these trash goons will be working the DNC dead voter drive on election day.
I believe the little blonde boy with the balled up fist is her brother! Probably first instincts were to defend sis!
Great idea! Still, rllies and protests are "contact events." I wouldn't take kids to one.
good point, he just went from being a jerk to a hero.
" I wouldn't take kids to one."
Yeah, my daughter was upset that I wouldn't let her go to the big right to life march in Washington.
I couldn't be there, and better judgement just wouldn't allow it.
er.. DAMN dude..
I'm just as angry over this as everyone here, but I don't wish that on them.
Let's try not to be like the DUmba**es, 'kay?
BIG TOUGH UNION THUG DEMOCRAT , ATTACKS A SMALL CHILD
Sophia can say that she had her sign ripped up by a person of tolerance and diversity.
We need someone in journalism to write up a report about how many liberal/anti-war/anti-Bush protests have been violent and compare how many pro-Bush rallies have been.
BC 04 ought to have her and her dad on a plane ASAP to meet President Bush, to present her with a nice big autographed sign. This is a perfect excuse to rip the Demo's and get more free campaign coverage.
Someone on another thread talked about making a bumper sticker of this picture.
What I'd like to see is the picture made into a poster, with words below to the effect: "Democrat Terrorists", or "Kerry Supporters Abuse Children". You know, something with a subtle message.
If anyone does this, please ping me, as I want to get it printed up to place in the yard. On a street with several Kerry signs.
Modified a little bit: "Liberalism is an infantile mental disorder." - 'Pod.
Let's see if we can break a record with how many times this story has been posted.
It's the moron with the upside down sign in the background that really tells the whole story.
I gotta agree with you.It also appears as if dad was holding the sign. His daughters hands are resting on his head. It's not an excuse for someone to tear up their sign, but if you're going to play with fire, leave the kids at home.
This brings to mind a comment about killing Indian children: "nits make lice" (Sand Creek Massacre?, 1864). Perhaps we are the 21st. Century's Indians.
That would be good --- show her smiling again -- next to Cheney or Bush. "For the children" should never be used by democrats.
The ID of the thug needs to be exposed. That way the whole world will know who he is and what he is about.
I wish I would have been there to knock the his teeth in.
The child is practically a baby for the love of God.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
Believe me, most the guys I used to work with would be appalled by the actions of the jerk. I can see why people who really have little contact with union people would think that we're all wild-eyed fanatics from such incidents, but the class warriors are just a minority. Most of us think for ourselves and our primary civic identity is as patriotic Americans, not politicized Democratic operatives. When I was in the union, I never voted for a Democrat, never attended a Democratic politcal rally and certainly never ripped a sign out of a kid's hands. I never accepted the leftist union line about the workers versus the greedy owners, but neither will I subscribe to mass villification of the rank and file for the actions of the few. Thank goodness, we're still a nation of individuals, not groups, and that includes people who happen to belong to labor unions too. That said, there certainly is a segment that think union membership means release from the laws of human decency when they are engaged in some orginized public activity. But that's a minority. At least where I was. Maybe it's different in the Northeast, but I never saw this class warfare attitude from the people I worked with.
As I said on another thread, Sophia is so sweet. The poor 3 y/o .doesn't understand what happened. She only knows that her sign was trashed. I'll be interested in her political views in 2019
This is an public airport withing the United States of America you are talking about. Not some craphole bar in Columbia.
For being so liberal, you sure have lost your ideals of exactly what liberalism is.
I will tell you it does not start with oppressing other people views with violence.
Well it does now
If women get in a position where they need to know how to defend themselves, they should know how, but they shouldn't purposely be put in that position, said Parlock, a Barboursville father of 10 children.http://content.gannettonline.com/gns/iraq/20030719-26621.shtml
Funny how he couldn't take his own advice.Trust me,stear clear of this one.
OOps,should have been "stear clear".
