MSNBC's Hardball Just Had Dean's Former Campaign Manager Float New "Theory"
Hank All-American | Sep 17, 2004 | Hank All-American

Posted on 09/17/2004 4:58:50 PM PDT by Hank All-American

Dean's former campaign Manager just mentioned a "theory" he heard that the documents were actually made in 1972, but were later scanned, changing the font.

Can you believe how desperate the liberals are? Did it also change the terminology from Air Force to Army? Did it also change the signature? Did it also change the retirement date for General Staudt?

They will never concede the documents are forgeries. This will live on in liberal mythology forever. Like the October Surprise.

Exactly how does "scanning" a document "change its font"? Also mysterious is how the signature (which is supposedly authentic according to CBS's "handwriting expert", right?) somehow survived this spooky "scanning" process.

These guys just won't let go of their delusions.

LOL...Scanning is the same thing as copying of faxing. It just takes a pic of the doc. It doesn't change spacing. What a maroon.

And did this scanner come with the Microsoft Word '72?

You would have to scan the documents using ocr software and it would need to be a perfect read - other wise you would be changing parts of the original text.

That begs the question, still, where are the originals then? *gasp*

Could it be that there are NO originals?

Oh never mind that the entire story has been blown to bits by living people. Oh wait, forgot, the DNC relies on dead people to vote and cover their stories anyways.

Not true.
If you do an OCR scan, it converts to a document, as opposed to making an image.

But this is fairly new technology. It would mean the documents still exist..
So where are they..

Hey, wait a minute.
That's why the DNC is now going to flot this theory. That's why they had that hack Knox come out and claim that she tryped documents with the same content.

They are going to try a "do over" on the forged docs.
Look out for it.

Rush (I think it was he) said yesterday that President Bush did 6 months worth of flying in 5.5 months.

Also, there's a thread somewhere on FR that states the reason for payroll gaps is because the President served without pay. (you probably saw this already, but I think it's worth repeating)

Is he talking about some OCR scan of the documents? Here's my question . . . WHY? Again it's the same thing with these morons. They think that because soemone COULD do a thing that that means that possibility can't be closed off. It doesn't matter how ridiculous or how easily it can be demonstrated just how remote or implausible these things are they'll cling to it. It's PATHETIC, is it not?

I think what they are saying to us is they scanned the documents in 1992, using OCR technology, and then, years later, reformated the digital material back into a readable document.

So, let's review this ~ in 1969/70 I worked with an Israeli engineer who was working out the characteristics of the most common fonts to see what could be cranked into one of the OCR technologies invented by Rabinow.

By 1973 you could get an OCR from IBM (built by Control Data Corporation based on one of 5 Rabinow patented designs), that could "read" fairly well, but all the error-edits were garbage because computer processors were so slow. I recall very well a data collection document I designed as an OCR form that year.

No doubt Democrats in those days had better stuff than the United States Postal Service, eh?!

Relax...it's just Al Gore testing his focussed gravity beam time transporter.

Just happened to point it at the photocopier.

Problem is...it only works with one date 4th May 1971.

Was this what Joe Trippi said? I was so amazed that he was saying "Freerepublic" and named Buckhead and TankerKC (pinging--you were named by Joe Trippi on Hardball tonight!) and said they had "raised legitimate questions" and that he said it in measured tones that I didn't hear anything about changing fonts.

It doesn't make sense due to the mirror imaging, plus the content at this point has been totally debunked.

Still, what Trippi was up to with the "I'm a reasonable man" approach was interesting.

Apparently, they changed a lot of other things when they scanned them as well, such as Bush's address, the date on which the physical was supposed to be, the name of the officer who pressured Killian, etc.

I've used OCR software extensively about 10 years ago, and found it to be more trouble than it was worth. The slightest thing would cause it to chage a "g" to a "5" and other such craziness. It was maddening!

OCR may be a possibility, but it wouldn't explain the crumple marks on the pdf. Keep up, folks!!

http://www.cbi.umn.edu/collections/inv/cdc/histtimeline.html pretty well covers the IBM/CDC/Rabinow OCR history with short paragraphs.

Glad to see official corporate histories conform to my memory!

I really doubt Lt. Col. Burkett or Lt. Col. Killian had access to OCRs in 1972.

Actuall, the fonts were changed when the documents were "transported" from the bridge of the Enterprise into Burkett's mailbox. At least that's what I heard.
