Those were in Kyiv, when I finally got around to getting a (cheap) digital camera. I would love to see you hugging one of those ladies ;-) She probably say something like: "ty chto?! S uma soshla? Kolbaski samye obyknovennye, ne nado obyatiya" (Are you nuts? These are just sausauges, no need for hugs.)

Kievstar is one of the mobile phone companies in Ukraine - crummy telephone lines which are constantly getting stolen and lots of competition makes mobil'niki a good idea.

When I was in Moscow I used to play experiments on the Russian people for fun. One of them was at a local market. I would go and stand outside and every baba that came out I smiled hugely at and said HELLO, I am *** from Amerika, Privyet, Ochen preyetna. and shook their hand and really hit them hard with a lot of enthusiasm.

Just to see their reactions. Because they told me, some of my friends there, you know, how they think Americans are so wierd to smile all the time.

To a Russian this is like weather, nothing can be done about it.

Perfect. And the cats song makes it more clear, but I am confused about people don't leave the well-traveled/trampled path.

Cats are cats ;-) while people are creatures of habit. Zhanna Aguzarova said she got in a lot of trouble with the censors over that song.

You know, before we messed around in Yugoslavia, (most) Russians just loved Americans. Now there's a whole category of anti-American jokes, and a wildly popular comedian named Zadornov whose entire shtick is on what idiots Americans are.

On the first link, USA (Russian SShA) supposedly stands for Strana Shizofrenikov i Alkogolikov ("Land of Schizophrenics and Alcoholics").

Here's a Lada/Moskvich for you. The bumper sticker says "Merskvich - Fighter"

And here's something about telephones and food

Good one on the phones!!! LOL.

Also, 4 television sets in a 600 square foot kvartera. One in each room. Used to crack me up.

I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to tackle the jokes in Russian, but don't translate them for me, I think I can do them after some sleep. Most of the words look easy on a brief scan.

From the American joke site, almost funny:

"The world has gone crazy: the best rapper is a white guy, the best golf player is black, France accuses America of arrogance, Germany doesn't want fight, and America doesn't have enough money for war."

Thanks for the ping.

Between Luis's rantings and indiscriminate screaming of "Nazi!" he informed me that Chechnya couldn't legally operate a website with any extension except ".ru" . Therefore this website must be operated by Putin's old KGB buddies to make it look like the work of Chechens. So this whole article is suspect. /sarcasm

Let me guess....Kavkas had the beheading videos of Muhammadan slime killing Russian soldiers? Russia better get it's sh*t together fast. It's security services are a mess. Hopefully the school massacre unifies the Russians people.

I'm pulling for Vlad to devastate the Islamo killers and their breeding grounds.

IT was nice to see all the older Russian women (grandmothers) at the school siege ready to comfort children they didn't even know as they escaped. There was a huge contingent of grandmas waiting at the seige.

Wonder how long before the muzzies manage to kill, kidnap and behead, or belt-bomb the Lithuanians? I give it two weeks top.

It always helps the lunatics feel better when they blow up anyone or anything for allah. Especially after the 'ummah' has once again been 'humiliated' by the 'infidels.'

glad they are off the air.

Older info on Kavkaz.

"this site is the premiere "information" outlet created by Chechnya's "propaganda minister" Movladi Udugov specifically to support Chechen rebels. This site is linked to by many Western news agencies including BBC, MSNBC and others.

Who?

The Kavkaz.org web site was organized by Movladi Udugov - Chechnya's senior propaganda official, who is currently being sought by Russian police. An order for Udugov's arrest was issued by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

Movladi Udugov was born in 1962 in Grozny. In 1988 he graduated from the Chechen-Ingush State University with a degree in economics. After graduation Udugov worked for the "Orientir" newspaper as the senior editor. Later Movladi Udugov worked as the press-secretary for the Chechen President Djohar Dudayev and in 1991 was appointed Chechnya's Information and Press Minister. During the war of 1994-1996 between federal center and Chechen separatists, Udugov actively supported the rebels and has greatly contributed to spreading anti-Russian propaganda in the West. In January of 1997 Movladi Udugov participated in Chechenya's presidential elections but gathered under 1% of the votes. Under President Maskhadov, Movladi Udugov became Chechnya's First Vice-Premiere and the Information Minister.

Where?

The main server of Kavkaz.org is currently located south of Los Angeles, California, near Huntington Park and South Gate. The site is located on the Delta Internet Services network of the Concentric Network Company (1400 Parkmoor Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126-3429). The Kavkaz.org site has a mirror at www.argun.org
