"I love the guy," Staudt said of Bush. "I'm so tired of this negative crap about him that I'd like to volunteer to build a barn and take you press guys out behind it and kick your asses."

Horsewhippings are probably more suitable for the leprous crew at CBS News.

Give them the "Abu Ghairab" treatment and release the photos.

I'm amazed by CBS poor excuses as well. They've become snake oil salesmen.

Howlin, that quote needs repeating:

"I love the guy," Staudt said of Bush. "I'm so tired of this negative crap about him that I'd like to volunteer to build a barn and take you press guys out behind it and kick your asses."

I saw that in an earlier thread today, and I'll repeat what I said then; I think General Staudt needs to hook up with Zell Miller, I bet Zell would help him build the barn, ** and ** kick the asses!

But when a little old lady who said bush was "selected, not elected" claims they reflect a dead man's sentiments, then, well, that's news!!!

Ah it's worse than that !

The old biddy contradicted herself. She said in Rather's interview that Staudt did not exert any influence.

So we have:

1 Staudt denying it.

2 Knox denying it.

3 A forged document that is dated 18 months after Staudt retired.

...And CBS still claim the content is accurate...

Someone go put padlocks and chains on the doors of that place. They are a national DISGRACE.

"In a debate this heated, one can hardly expect Gen. Staudt to endorse the point of view that he exerted undue influence."

She's basically calling Staudt a liar.

Sooner or later, this is going to make him mad enough to take to the airways.

"but they will take the word of a 86 year old woman who plainly states that she does not like President Bush... amazing..."

Even more amazing is the fact that at no time in the story do they even mention that she's a self described Bush hater.

On top of which CBS News parades this secretary's blatant anti GWB bias and impugns the word of a General as to his own actions.

CBS News truly exists in some bizarre alternate Left Wing Universe.

That's what I'm hoping, that the assault on his character, for that's what this is no matter how many euphemisms they use, will make him mad enough to speak out and show them once and for all for the partisan liars that they are. I would think that questioning his integrity like this after he's stated that he didn't exert undue influence, would make a lot of military people mad on his behalf.

I say good, let them keep up with this charade as long as they wish. The American people have voted with their remotes as to who they believe. CBS, Mapes and Rather are in the tank.

They have themselves in one big 'ole hole and can't quit digging. If they persist they will tie it back to the DNC via Burkett and Cleland, I reckon.

I wonder if there is any possibility of another network broadcasting Staudt rebutting CBS's lies about him.

Bush got into the guard because he was college educated and would be an officer. There was a long list for enlisted, but not for those qualifed to train as pilots.

The debate is so one-sided against CBS that the heat is on CBS and no one else.

When one considers the average age of the old media dino managers over at Black Rock, they probably thought she was a young hottie chick and tried to hit on her.

CBS spokeswoman Sandy Genelius brushed off Staudt's statements: "In a debate this heated, one can hardly expect Gen. Staudt to endorse the point of view that he exerted undue influence."

That is sort of true. One usually does not expect people accused of crimes to rush out to take credit for them. Still, CBS is accusing Staudt of a crime--shouldn't they give him a fair chance to respond? The fact that he has been accused by CBS now means CBS can treat him like a criminal? I don't think so.

Why doesn't the White House just revoke CBS
press credentials to the White House & Capitol
for the duration of the campaign?

Let them copy the CNN reporters' notes & get scooped daily.
That'll teach 'em!
