This is going to be juicier than Watergate. The cast of characters is immense. How bizarre that Dan Rather is where he is now, at the other end of the stick.
Sweet!

Seems the greatest generation was too tired from fighting the big war to bother noticing, or caring.

Could it be that Mr. Burkett has threatened exposing the collusion of all of the above if CBS names him?

Is it possible the DNC is in such disarray and panic because they see the likelyhood CBS is going to have to rat them out over providing those fake documents? If it turns out someone in the DNC forged those documents, Kerry's candidacy will have to be removed from life support allowed to die. It would explain the sense of panic and defeat in the Kerry campaign.

How bizarre that Dan Rather is where he is now, at the other end of the stick.Blame it on hubris and arrogance. Blather, CBS, and the rest of the MSM got away with slanted stories for so long that I think they believed they could actually pull this off.

"Rather was willingly duped into this story."Think so, jj?
I don't think the sot was "duped" into anything.
danny boy is *complicit* of perpetrating a deliberate fraud.
Really only two other questions, then.
Why?
...& what're the identities of his coconspirators.

We need to flush out the source(s). The best form of attack is to insist that the source is Rather's daughter, and that is why he is stonewalling. Rather will then switch into defense of his daughter mode, and rat out the source(s).
Background: Ben Barnes (who was part of the interview) knows Rather's daughter very well.
To: Casloy
I think they'll stonewall till after the election if, as I believe likely, this was fed to Dan by the DNC or the Kerry campaign. Not only will it kill Ketchup Boy's election hopes, but other RATS running in Senate or House races will also go down with him.

"A thousand years from now, "rather" might be a common lower-case noun for a pompous incompetent who misses some obvious flaw in his plans." I suggest we skip the 1000 year wait and begin using it. Most of us here know what a clymer is and those that joined FR later can always rather their story and claim they were here then.
To: ABG(anybody but Gore)
It makes me wonder if CFR didn't send them over the edge with their arrogance in believing they were the only "legitimate" way for anyone to be informed.

Rather was willingly duped into this story. Why is it difficult for people to believe Rather was part of the fraud? Someone faked these documents, why not Rather?

As the network put it last week, ''In accordance with longstanding journalistic ethics, CBS News is not prepared to reveal its confidential sources or the method by which '60 Minutes' Wednesday received the documents.'' But, once they admit the documents are fake, they can no longer claim ''journalistic ethics'' as an excuse to protect their source. There's no legal or First Amendment protection afforded to a man who peddles a fraud. You'd think CBS would be mad as hell to find whoever it was who stitched them up and made them look idiots. So why aren't they? The only reasonable conclusion is that the source -- or trail of sources -- is even more incriminating than the fake documents. Why else would Heyward and Rather allow the CBS news division to commit slow, public suicide?
Great Point!

Viacom is the Democrats' Halliburton. Think how valuable CBS' FCC license is, which I guess tenfold more than the alleged profits Halliburton has made in Iraq.

I just sent my
local CBS radio affiliate this story and asked them why they haven't done a follow-up on this event since Monday.

The article ignores something that is obvious.
If CBS admits the documents are forgeries,
future potential informants will not trust CBS.

Do you mean something like how the name, Clymer, has become a euphemism for "bigtime a_ _ hole"?

Excellent suggestion! Every CBS local affiliate ought to receive at least 100 emails of this Steyn article by Monday, and the doofuses at the Tiffany (it was only rhinestones) Network in NYC ought to get at least a million just to know we are NOT dropping this story.
